About
Iron Horse Golf Course is laid out in the floodplain of Fossil Creek, an area loaded with woods and a railroad that divides the property into three tracts. When Dick Phelps designed the golf course he loaded it with par 4s that are over 400 yards. This track has only two par 5s, but you'll get your money's worth as they are virtually impossible to reach in two. Iron Horse's best hole is the 462-yard, par-4 third hole, which is generally a bogey hole for the average golfer.

Where the cart can go?
Nice course layout, very short. Biggest issue is where you can drive cart. Hot dry day no mud and while some fairways have dirt there are no signs that says cart path only. You drive out and find out hard way.
Put signs out that tell people where the cart can go.
Fairways need more attention !
Fairways need attention, should be punched. Golf cart shut off is a pain and slows down play. Probably could rope off sensitive area.
bad shape
greens were punched 2 weeks ago.... and were really bumpy still... all 18 greens were the same....ball bounced on every dimple. several fairways had really bad bare spots... not worth what they are asking you to pay right now...cool course.. just needs to be in better shape....
Tight course
The course is tight and makes for a lot of people hitting balls into you from other tee boxes
The pace was awful what usually takes us 3 1/2 hrs to play took us over 4 1/2 hrs. The cart girl was excellent and check on everyone at frequent pace. I got a discounted price thank goodness cause it’s not work the full price the charge
Very Disappointed
Greens were punched and sanded (poorly). Many of the aerator holes were not filled level and putting was terribly frustrating. Many of the fairways had huge bare spots. Paid $85 per player and no one mentioned the greens were punched and conditions were bad. Should have been a discounted rate. To top it off they checked coolers at #1 tee to ensure no outside beers were brought onto the course. Didn’t see a courtesy cart until #15 where we ordered a round of beers. The beers didn’t show up until after we teed off on #18.
Fairways needing attention
I have played at the course a few times and it seems like it is getting in worse condition. On the back 9 especially there was a number of fairways that had no grass at all and when you see it hit the fairway a cloud of dirt would occur. They also have drainage issue and there was lots of driftwood on the last few holes. I like the layout but it needs some attention. The greens were not bad but not consistent in speed and considerably slower than the practice green.
Mediocre
The gps on the carts doesn’t allow you to drive on half the fairways which is annoying. Greens are amazing but other than that the course is pretty mid.
Nice course, pace of play sucked.
First time out at IH. We liked the course but if we ever go back we will not book an early tee time. With groups behind us wanting to play a round in under 3:30 we as a twosome were unable to play at a pace to allow us to enjoy the day or the course. Really sucked.
A bit disappointing…
Had seen Iron Horse from 820 for years. Didn’t live up to the looks from the road. Greens were the best part. Fairways were rocky in places, sand in other areas (not sand traps), Layout of holes is fair at best. I was paired with someone who knew or else it would have been difficult. Had higher hopes than were fulfilled… bummer.
Greens are in great shape!
Greens were excellent. Unfortunately, there’s lots of of dirt patches and washout everywhere on the course
But I would definitely recommend overall.
Need marshals for pace of play
Course is getting into shape. I know it was a Sunday afternoon, but from #7 on it played really slow. Marshals probably would have helped Otherwise, still fun to play here
