Golfer Reviews
Great day of golf
This is a WOW on the visual meter. Well worth the 2 hour drive. Very well maintained, picturesque mountaintop course with beautiful fairways and greens. I'll be going back. Great value - one hole prettier than the last.
Golf on the Mountain
Things that make this golf course worth playing: (1) Amazing views from the top of a mountain, once the site of a strip mining operation; (2) beautiful views from the elevated teeboxes on several holes--especially the par 3s; (3) great overall course conditions; (4) seriously tricky slopes on several greens--not unfair, but pretty tough for certain pin positions; (5) lovely 360 wrap-around patio with views of the golf course; (6) the guy selling golf balls out of his van between hole 13 and 14 (lots of top quality balls lost by not so top-notch golfers, at $6 a dozen).
StoneCrest is a true golf destination in Kentucky. If you own a camera, bring it with you. Extra golf balls are also a good idea.
Great looking course
This course was super nice and very well maintained. Was a little crowded which was kind of aggravating at times. The GPS on the golf carts was very nice to have as I am a new golfer and have difficulty judging the distance to the hole sometimes.
Excellent for the money.
Awesome view on the mountain and a great course layout to challenge your skill.
Greens were in very good condition with challenging slopes.
Beautiful scenery. Chocked full of amenities.
I had been reluctant to play this course because it's an hour's drive from me , but man am I glad I did. Nice practice facility including range and practice green. Friendly and courteous staff. Tons of cool amenities including full bathroom facilities throughout the course, on-course phones for ordering food and drink, and nice club car carts. I especially enjoyed the Pro Shot GPS in each cart. But best of all had to be the beauty of the course as well as the pristine conditions. The greens were tough but immaculate and I loved the elevated tee boxes on most holes affording beautiful views. Some were 100+ feet above the greens. My only complaint is that #11 was closed due to vandalism, but thats obviously not the fault of the course. Some idiot had done donuts on the green. Who would do something like that?! All in all though, it was the nicest course I've played this year. Well done Stonecrest! I think you deserve to be in the top 5 in the state.
A nice layout.
StoneCrest is normally a much better than average course. It has been so wet this year that it has been cart path only most of the summer. I had 3 bottles of sand/grass seed on the cart and emptied all 3 in 4 holes filling my divots and a lot of old ones. The greens were in average condition, except for #11 which was vandalized by someone on a 4 wheeler. It will take a while to get that green back in play. The pace of play is generally 4 - 4.5 hours, but there weren't many people out yesterday and I finished in under 3 hours. It is by far the best course in the area.
well designed
Course was on top of a mountain so great scenery. Great features and challenges i.e. fairway bunkers. GPS on carts was nice
Great course and scenery
Great course excellent scenery , nice staff unusual setting
Course in great shape Mountain course with great views.
Have never played this course that it wasn't in super shape. Stonecrest is the best course I have played in Kentucky and I have played alot. Unbeatable for the price. Huge greens fairways are super recently had a ton of rainand you could still ride carts in the fairway. Rewards good shots as I had 5 birdies
Great!
Challenging, long and greens that are unforgiving. Not a course for the beginner, but keeps the seasoned player guessing.
Excellent layout. Very good condition.
Play was extremely slow as we arrived and had a tee time following 20 groups playing a 27-hole Calcutta. The starter initially stated we did not have a tee time but then realized we had booked online and informed us we would get off but may be 10-15 minutes late. We were about 35 minutes late getting to tee off. The starter informed us the last group in the Calcutta would be very slow - he certainly was right - 2hrs, 45 mins for the first nine. The bad part was the group had two open holes in front of them but we were not permitted to play through.. The second nine was somewhat faster but still way too slow. When we said something to the starter between nines, the response was simply that he warned us and there was nothing he could do about it. Plan to play the same course tomorrow afternoon, truly hope for faster play. Love the course but disappointed with the slow play - really tough in the afternoon heat.
Great course and spectacular view!
An awesome course layout with great fairways and super greens. Always well maintained and the staff is always very polite and courteous. Wish driving range was a tad bit wider but it is still good enough to get loose before your round.
Love this course. Our number one to travel and play!
Would like to say "Thank you" to Morris Copley. we had a small problem with tee times being booked during a tournament. He was friendly and accommodating. Thank you, Morris!
Great experience.
Amazing course. Top to top. Would suggest everyone play it at least once.
Beautiful course. Would love to play again.
There were a lot of "regulars" there and we were just waited on quickly, no friendly welcomes. More concerned about the wagers on the groups in front of us. Gentleman at the starter's shed was awesome. He gave us tips and helped us and seemed genuinely glad for us to be there. On second hole we were bombarded by maintenance men wanting to work on water valve. There was no one behind us but they held us up on our second shot for 15 minutes instead of letting us play through. We were in the middle of the fairway and they were between us and the green. They stopped working several times and one or two would leave and come back. I thought they could have let us hit and be out of the way. We had a great time and love the course, just disapointed in some of the staff. This was our anniversary trip and we have always wanted to play Stonecrest.
Great coarse.
I like the challenge of this coarse. The greenes and fairways are well maintained. The staff is friendly. Has a little to fast of pace, I would like to take alittle more time to enjoy the coarse and my game.
This course plays great
Greens little rough and fast but growing in nicely fairways are beautiful and true course is beautiful for this time of year very well maintained great place to play
