Good experience
Good range to warm up on and American Golf shop on site.
Course was a bit frozen but in really good nick for this time of year, recommend a visit
Great value for money - nice course
Overall the round was very good - good pace of play, nice layout with a few challenges and excellent, friendly staff.
The only thing that let it down was the condition of the greens which were not great
Poor state of course and greens
either due the extremely hot and dry summer we’ve had this year or lack of maintenance investment during covid, the course is in appalling condition.. from tee to green BH is lacking a severe overall to recover its former glory. you won’t enjoy it as it is currently.
Greens not great
Haven’t played here for a while. Played at Downshire last week and third greens are much better for same price. Also the tee boxes here were pretty poor. Fairways in good condition. They could do with emptying the bins on some holes as they were overflowing.
The greens were shocking
Greens were in terrible shape. Even for a pay to play.
Good value
At £19 from GolfNow it was excellent value for a full 18 hole, par 72, 6000 yards round. (to pay much more would be very average)
Only slight squibbles would be:
a) practice facilities (poor putting green and no warm up nets so £3 extra for small bucket of balls on the range)
b) varied pace of greens
c) since the course switched front 9 for back 9 the first tee is right next to the range exit and slightly out of sight of the starter, leading to 2 rounds now where other golfers have appeared from the range and taken my tee time.
Let down by the greens conditions.
A great course usually but on this occasion the greens were terrible. Patchy and uneven with many containing bare earth. Putting was literally pot luck with the ball looking like a weeble ( if your over 40 you’ll know what I mean). If something had been said prior to play or a notice with an apology posted for the state of the greens then I would not have played. Overall a disappointing day.
Enjoyable course that could be attacked, poor greens
Forgiving course, enjoyable & some nice challenging holes like the 18th! Greens were in bad condition - taken a battering in the heat, let the course down.
Birds Hill
Great course wide and forgiving. Only thing that let it down were the conditions of the greens.
Unpleasant staff, dull course
Played here as a visitor. Below average track with no interesting holes. Course baked out but in alright condition given the lack of rain. Starter was rude. Not worth the money at all.
