Terrible condition, zero maintenance
Firstly, it’s a nine hole course you go around twice which isn’t made clear anywhere.
Secondly, it’s in awful condition from tee box up to and including the green.
Price point is double what it should be.
We won’t be returning.
Course
A very poor course, the fairways where non-existent and the greens very poor, it is the worst holiday park course I've played on and not worth money,
Don’t bother
Was described as 18 hole par 71 on GN. It is not. Only 9 hole. I am sure I’m not the first to be fooled by these clowns and not the last. Looks like it used to be a nice course. Layout is really nice but looks like they don’t maintain it. Greens were like dried mud. Shocking. It’s more of a holiday park than a golf course. Should not be advertised on Golf Now.
BOSTON WEST
WHEN BOOKING THIS COURSE NO MENTION OF BEING A 9 HOLE COURSE PLAYING TWICE
VERY DISAPPOINTING , THE COURSE ITSELF WAS IN BAD CONDITION , NO BOARD DIRECTIONS TO INDICATE TEE BOXES, THE GREENS CRACKS ALL OVER THEM . WONT PLAY HERE AGAIN .
The sad demise of a once great golf club
Once a very well maintained and challenging 18 hole golf course, sadly the takeover by Away Resorts group leading to closure of the first 9 holes to be replaced by log cabins and holiday homes, has left this as a 9 hole course comprising the original back nine only. Nevertheless this 9 holes continue to offer a well designed layout with challenging holes but unfortunately it is no longer well maintained. The dry Summer conditions have not helped but uneven bumpy fairways and scabby greens now remain. Bunkers have not been raked in weeks as the extensive amount of footprints testify. Yes the course offers good value but the lack of attention and evidence of any tangible green keeping effort mean it is in very sad decline. I won’t be returning unless and until there is done extensive restoration work carried out.
Golf course
The course seems very tired especially the Green's the are Very poor
Played this course many times
Played this course many times including when the first hole was where the lodges are located now I know that the weather is exceptionally hot right now but the greens could do with a good soaking in the mornings to get some life back into them apart from that it’s a good 9 hole course
Really Good 9 hole course in Good Condition
Boston West is a really good 9 hole course in Great condition and Great value for money on a hot deal not that sure its worth £28 if not on deal.
Pace of play was slow as 4 ball in front of us took nearly an hour to play 2 holes, They must have been guests at Chalet Park as none was wearing correct gear and also sharing clubs.
,
Nice course, let down by upkeep
I've played this course quite a few times, I thought now we're in the summer it would be in its best conditions, bunkers were appalling like concrete, on the 6th ball hit bunker at front of green, pin was at front, ball bounced out to back of green about 30ft away 😂😂 when ball did go in one and I played out they were just solid, basically played a chip, fairways were also poor condition, only saving grace were condition of green's these were very good standard, no pitch marks like earlier in season. The off course amenities are very good, a great driving range with top tracer, and a bar that serves food and drinks and drinks are also available on range. Overall this is a nice course spoilt by up keep, it could be a very good standard 9hole course with the right green keeping staff
3rd of the course was closed
Very disappointing, hole 7-8-9 closed no offer for part refund ! £25 person for 6 holes! Greens poor condition
Great course with challenging holes
I didnt know what to expect if this 9 hole holiday park course but i was totally surprised at how good the course was, conditions, layout etc. Couldnt wait to play the same 9 over again to complete 18 holes. Great staff and beautiful looking clubhouse. Also has Driving range facilities too.
Overall a nice looking course
Played an early morning round on a Sunday, course was hard to follow to start off with as my GPS 'shot scope' was displaying wrong information for holes, but after speaking to green keeper he put me on right track, course used to be 18 according to him so set GPS to back 9 and all was fine. Course in good condition only thing let it down was lack of pitch mark repairs by other players, some greens damaged because of this. I must say some holes are quite picturesque and framed by trees very nicely. Overall i would recommend playing here.
I find your review very un constructive.
My friends and I play Boston West quite regularly.
The course since its reopening has come so far.
To question the work ethics of the greenkeepers when you don't have all the facts is ridiculous.
We speak to the 2 greenkeepers regularly on our visits and you see them working hard with the equipment they have, which isn't much, as apparently alot of key greens maintenance equipment was sold off when the course closed a few years ago, and those key bits have yet to be replaced, also their irrigation system is broken and barely works, and the budget they work too which isn't a great deal either, as its a new holiday park and the emphasis has been put on building that first.
With regards to your almost silly comment about the bunkers, we see them regularly rake the bunkers, and the bunkers have new hand rakes in them too, yet players seem to refuse to rake their foot prints. We often see the lads rake a bunker with their ride on, then a few minutes later, a player has walked through played a shot and not used the rake themselves. How can this be down to poor greenkeepers? this is players' poor golf etiquette.
Our group agrees the course has been in better condition for sure, but to bash the guys trying their best with limited resources isn't going to help improvements. Just think before you judge.
