Chingford GC
Value for money on a Bank holiday, Condition of course needs some attention, Greens being attacked by crows and some in poor condition with dead patches.
Excellent value for money.
This course is fantastically maintained - it’s not even privately owned and it’s better than some private clubs!
For £10 it is incredible value. The fairways were decent, the greens were in very good condition and the tee boxes were pretty good too.
The only downside is the fact that there is a lot of dog walkers and runners crossing over the course. It could also be a little better sign posted as it’s easy to get lost on your way to finding the next tee.
Other than that, I think you can’t go wrong for £10. It’s a nice course and the fairways are very wide so it’s a bit more playable for the higher handicapped golfer.
Decent for a knockabout
The course is ok for players to get some practice in.
However, the fairways and greens weren’t in good conditions. The greens ran slow (which was surprising given the heat we had running up to the round) and fairways were long in parts.
Some good challenging holes though.
left after 9 holes
This course is a municipal course on common land. I don't feel what I paid was reflected in any way by the experience. My 9 holes took 2.5 hours as there were so many people on the course (one five ball ahead). There were walkers on practically every hole with dogs running loose. The tee boxes were an absolute joke and the greens might as well have been temps.
It should be cheaper so that people don't have any expectations.
No warm up area, not enough signs to next tee. Greens good for the time of year
An excellent public course
A testing little gem of a course with every hole a challenge. Greens in good nick. Some tees a bit ropey but otherwise a well kept course. Well worth visiting a few times to get the layout of the course.
Good fun
Nice course would be improved with ball cleaners on tees or small map of hole as a few holes are a little blind but over all nice
Good course
Apart from a few greens that needed a little work doing to them, this was a lovely course and would defo come back again
Nice course
Great course overall. The course is in good shape and the pace of play was great. Recommend getting out earlier as it seemed to get busy towards noon. Challenging even without bunkers.
Early Start
Great value for money although some tee's and green's need a little TLC
Good fol Practice
Good points are fast and very tinclined green, people are so friendly, some blind holes, and well maintained fairway. Want teeing ground horizontal. very few bunker.
dissapointing
Course in very poor state. Unevenly cut fairways. No course guide available and no sign posts made guessing yardage and direction to next tee very tricky. Fairways have at some point been given drainage but this has left them heavily furrowed meaning no advantage to hitting fairway, at least in the rough you are on the flat.
Extremely Poor
The course condition was extremely poor. The pace of play was slow (probably doesn't help that 3 clubs share one course). Far too many blind holes with no direction, no fairway markers, greens were fast but inconsistent. There was no definition between the fairway and the rough, I actually wondered if they even employ green keepers. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Very disappointed and won't be back.
Map and yardages please
Not a bad course. Some simple changes would make big differences. No yardage markers makes it very difficult to judge shots into green. No course map and in most places signs to next tee. We got lost twice and had to guess several times where the next tee was. Too many dog walkers all over the course, at one point I had to shout to get people having a conversation off the fairway. Course in respectable condition for time of year, and greens were also not bad, A couple more weeks they should be good.
Well worth giving this course a go
Very good condition during these winter months the fairways are in very good condition and the greens are in very good I'm surprised to be fair I've played various courses over the past few years during the winter and wasn't as good as this place well done to the people that look after this course and with the great value for money excellent.
