Course is coming along great, greens are far better than last year. A great test, keep your ball in play or pay the price
Great improvements happening
First time going round this season.
Lots of working going on but also lots of improvements being made around the fairways and greens.
Absolutely fantastic value for money 👍🏻
Rapidly inproving
Course was taken over at Easter, it's rapidly Inproving with investment on the greens and aprons, and drainage is hugely better than prior years. Paths are being re-stoned too.
During our visit there were people working on sprinklers that will further enhance during hot summer weeks.
Will be playing this more and more during the summer.
Good layout, terrible condition. Not worth the price
Played here in early may, the course was in bad condition. If the ball went slightly off the fairway you’d struggle to find it and in some occasions even in the middle of the fairway. Bunkers were unplayable and the greens inconsistent. Layout of the course is good and new ownership which is promising but will not be coming back and certainly not paying the cost of the green fee. Good luck to any venturing out here.
Rapidly improving
Under new ownership the course is already beginning to recover. The improvement in the greens over the past few weeks has been remarkable. With the planned works this will become the course it deserves to be. A sleeping gem of a course is reawakening.
So much potential!!
The course layout and what it could be is amazing!
Just needs a bit of money put in to sort out some of the greens and a bit of drainage!
It is winter and some of the fairways were in good shape for it.
For the price I’m certainly not complaining and will come back during the summer to see what the difference is!
A sorry state
Had high hopes for this course as I’d heard it was pretty good a few years ago.
Sadly the condition of the course was very poor and not even worth the £22.50 we paid. Fairways were in poor condition and the greens can only be described as shocking!
Not sure if it’s neglect/lack of investment or they’ve just suffered badly with the extremely dry summer we’ve had.
With some decent investment this could be so much better, the layout of the course is good and some really nice holes to play.
Just sad to see it in such a sorry state.
Avoid until greens are sorted out
Really disappointed on playing this course, it just seems like there’s a lack of investment in this place. The greens were awful and Haven’t been cared for at all. The guy in shop said the weather had taken its toll on them, but every other course in the areas greens are doing fine. Hopefully someone takes this place over that will get it back to what could be a great golf course!
Could be superb
Having played here for several years I have seen the state of the course go up and down but a real lack of investment is tying the hands of the hard-working and friendly staff at the club. The state of the greens is nothing short of embarrassing. The bunkers are undergoing some improvement but there doesn't seem to have been any work to improve their drainage or the problem of weeds. New sand has simply been laid over the old. The layout and aspect of the course is beautiful and there is a good variety of attractive and challenging holes. With investment, this could be a stunning course but as it stands it is declining rather quickly. Would I recommend to a friend? Yes if the greens were improved but as is, sadly not really. A real shame.
Little Gem on edge of Salisbury plain
Some beautiful golfing holes, with stunning views all round. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Booked an afternoon tee time with GolfNow for a fair price.
Disappointing
Played Erlestoke for the first time today. Both Staff and Members seemed friendly, but the course was a let down.
Some really nice Golf holes, but the Greens are very patchy with cracks running through them and very little grass on them.
In my opinion, £35 is overpriced for the standard of the course YMC.
Avoid until sorted
Prior to arrival we were contacted to say that they wouldn’t honour our tee off time booked through golf now due to a ladies competition - we agreed a tee time an hour later but don’t know why they allowed us to book….until we saw the state of the course! The pro stated to us that they’d had a break in a few weeks before where equipment had been stolen - it was however recovered, to be fair there is no way the course fell into such disrepute in just 2 weeks! The course could actually be very good, it has a good variety of holes but requires LOTS of TLC. The greens are some of the worse I’ve played and for the £35 each we paid through GN, it just isn’t worth the money - there are lots of great courses out there for less money. Hope they get it sorted, until they do - AVOID!
Vastly improved Course
I played Erlestoke GC today. The course has vastly improved over the last 6 months. Fairways generous and well maintained, greens true and again in good condition. The bunkers are out of play due to improvement work being carried out.
It is a challenging course with excellent views across the surrounding countryside.
Well worth a visit especially if you have not played there in recent times.
The ground staff have really worked tirelessly to get this course back to its current condition.
Shame about the bunkers
Course was in great condition, greens were true, fairways very good, tee boxes were well defined and kept(except 17 which was a bit ropey) My only 'criticism are the bunkers, they are awful in fact most were unplayable, there was evidence that there is work beginning on then but they should be GUR in my opinion. Other than that a very good course and a stiff test for a lot of golfers.
Better than last time
Greens ok. Fairways ok. Just needs some investment and sand in the bunkers and it could be good.
Never again
Erlestoke golf club has to be the worst course I’ve ever played, rude staff, the bunkers looked like the beaches of Normandy on d day landings, greens were terrible and the fairway was almost as long as the rough… waste of money
Top course
Really enjoy Erlestoke every time I come back and play it. Course in good condition despite greens being a little firm.
Would definitely recommend!
Just needs some TLC
First time playing this course despite being local to the area and some of the not so good reviews.
The course isn’t in the greatest condition compared to others around I have to say. The tees weren’t in great nick and the bunkers looked awful. Some fairways were better than others and the same with the greens, but neither were the worst I’ve played on.
Having said all that, don’t let it put you off playing here. It just needs some TLC and could be a gem
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE - UNDER INVESTMENT, THE COURSE IS IN TERRIBLE CONDITION WHAT A SHAME
Please please do not play here. It is a real shame, this could be (and was) such a nice golf course but it is obvious it is lacking investment. The fairways were poorly cut, too many weeds on the fairways. The bunkers were more like pot holes filled with rubble and too many weeds and the greens at best were like fairways in most decently run clubs. I used to be a member at the club 10 years ago and came back for a nostalgic round of golf. What a waste of my time and money. WHAT A SHAME. This course should be closed.
