Great Course!
Brilliant, well kept course. Was fun to play and no waiting around as pace of play was excellent.
Formby hall woodhey dunes review
Formby Woodhey Dunes is a well-kept 9-hole par 3 course that offers an enjoyable test for golfers of all levels. As a 22 handicap, I found the layout both fair and engaging, with enough variety in hole lengths and design to keep things interesting without being overly punishing. I shot 11 over on the day, which felt like a solid challenge without being discouraging. The condition of the course was good, and the pace of play was refreshingly quick, making it a great option for a relaxed yet rewarding round.
Great fun course for beginners
I was previously a member here and the course par 3 has improved vastly in recent years, I had a couple of family members playing who are just starting out and they loved it.
The course was in great condition and would happily bring them back in the future.
Great little course
Very good condition for a par 3 course. Also surprisingly challenging.
A great challenge
We’ve been playing this course for a few years now and it remains one of the more challenging par three courses we have played on. The quality of the course is very good and it plays in all weather owing to very good drainage. A number of particularly challenging holes with the island green on hole two right up there! You’ll need to be pretty straight off all of the tees to avoid hazards and some very challenging rough.
My only criticism has been the pricing without a “hot deal” £20 for 9 holes with no offers to play 18 means you’ll be paying some £40 for it and that increases to £25 for 9 holes and £50 for 18 at the weekend. Given that it is rarely busy, I would have thought they would try to encourage more people to play by lowering their price a little.
Overall an excellent place to hone your shorter game and I always recommend it to those who have yet to play it.
GPS didn’t match my app.
A great experience here, I use The Grint app when playing golf and the course layout was not the same as the layout on the App. However, this does not take anything away from how good it is at Formby Hall.
Great warm up
Lovely little par 3 course. 9 holes with some excellent challenges for all abilities. Im a 20 handicap and thoroughly enjoyed it
Great course for beginners
I only started playing a few months ago at Formby and this was my first time on the course. It is a fantastic course to start my golf journey. Highly recommend playing it!! Got some great holes and was a good test of skill.
Not good to play if it has been raining or is raining
Not great as the weather was very bad and they wouldn’t let me change my day as short notice. Only played 4 holes and had to call it a day as it was flooded, slippy and very dangerous to play on. Wouldn’t recommend playing maybe a good course if the weather is really nice. I did try and ring the day we were there but no answer, so I rang the day after to tell them about it and they said there is nothing they could do. They were very blunt and a little rude on the phone to me as this was my first time visiting the corse, after being recommend by a friend to play. I had payed for 18 holes for 4 people, but could only do 4 holes. I mentioned this on the phone to the golf club house but told me there was nothing they could do and it was our choice to play. I thought this was very rude and they could have done something for us. I asked if we could at least return to do our other 9 holes but told me this was against there policy and we would have to pay again if we wanted to play. I have played many courses up and down the country but never had an experience like is and such little help. Also to mention the bridge was very slippy covered in moss and water not safe at all. Overall I am very unhappy and upset as they weren’t helpful and were not willing to help or organise a rebooking for all of us. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless you are playing in the best weather England can provide or you don’t mind a very dangerous flooded course.
Very Good Par Three Course
Very good course. A great test of your short game, in great condition
Perfect for your short game
I’ve played here several times now , it’s a great course
Plenty of water makes it a good challenge, brilliant for your short game, the tees are a bit hacked but you'd expect that
And the greens are in excellent condition, love it !!
Nice little course
Lovely little par 3 course with some interesting holes, including one with an island green! Course was in excellent condition, the greens were immaculate when we visited. Course was nice and quiet too for 8 out of 9 holes, unfortunately we were held up for a good 10 mins on the last tee because of what appeared to be a junior lesson taking place on the green.
Not the best VFM though at £25 for 9 holes of par 3 golf.
