Opened in 1923, Willow Springs G.C. is the oldest golf course in San Antonio. The course has hosted several Texas Opens and many local amateur tournaments over the years and has been enjoyed by several famous golfers including Sam Snead and Ben Hogan. By today's standards Willow Springs Golf Course might seem pretty straightforward, but do not be fooled. The course's par-5 second hole is the longest in the entire city at 663 yards. There are also long, open fairways and a variety of elevation changes throughout the golf course. The popular Willow Springs course is located in eastern San Antonio, only about a 10-minute drive from San Antonio's famous Riverwalk.

Intresting layout
Course was in great shape and the greens were awesome. I play this course often and it is in the best shape that I have seen in a long time.
This course was in very good shape. Fairways were nice and green and the greens were in great condition.
I played in the afternoon and the weather was very hot. What impressed me was that all the water stops I made I found ice cold water making the heat more bearable. I commend the staff. Oh, and the course was Great!!!
Good Value Course.
The rough was uncut and wild in a lot of areas. The fairways were good, unfortunately there were rows of old cut grass from recent mowing everywhere. Pace of play a little slow but not bad, cut the rough back some and pace will pick up. Less time looking for balls. Staff cordial, concession stand makes a great breakfast taco, very generous on the servings.
Moderately hard but does require course management on several holes to stay out of trouble.
Enjoyed playing the course.
While the starter was attentive and proficient, a lack of marshals on the course contributed to slow play and some problems with improper setting of holes on the greens (#2) that prevented the flagstick from staying solidly in the hole.
Still plan on playing this course again soon!
Great Course!
I absolutely loved this course. The greens were in good but not amazing shape, the fairways were pristine. The teeboxes needed mowing, it was like teeing off from the rough. However, you really do get a great course for the money you pay. I will be going back there A LOT!
Pleasant Surprise
While the pace of play was a bit slow. The folks we were paired with were great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only #2 green had minor repair marks. Generally, course is in great shape. No easy feat in the beginning of South Texas summer. Would definitely go back. Just maybe not on a Sunday.
Nice old course
I hadn't played Willow Springs for awhile and it was nice to get back out there. The course was in good condition and although the greens had some sand on them they were still rolling true and were surprisingly fast. Good value for the money.

nice course. good condition need to keep kitchen open past 3:oo for service.
Greens were Awesome. Play was very slow on the back 9. Never did see A marshall on the course. It was obvious that there was alot of gambling going on
Too much gambling on this course caused VERY slow pay. Need A marshall to speed up the pace

The greens are in great shape...medium fast, hole #16 if you birdie it ...then you are playing some awesome golf. This is a must play course if you are visiting San Antonio...a great value.
Hole #2 is worth playing a round at Willow Springs
Weather conditions made the fairways play like hard pan. The greens are in great shape. Fantastic food in the grill cafe. I had a great cheeseburger and their breakfast sandwich is the best.
Offer wide variety of challenges
Course layout provides wide variety of challenges- water, sand, trees, doglegs and some fairways that are tight off the tees, but a few that are open. Newer laser-equipped carts are a plus. Greens and fairways are in generally good shape. Even tho a little bunched up at the start and at the turn, pace of play was relaxing, nobody pushing or dragging.

Good Course Over all
The only issue was slow play and like so many courses they allow to many twosomes. I do not understand why they do not pair up two groups into a foursome down here in Texas.
They also need to employ rangers to speed up play...slow slow rounds all over the courses here in Texas.

This course is in the best condition now that I have ever seen it. The greens are almost perfect. I found the best price on GolfNow. com. which made this a great round at a great price.
