Great value for money
Great value for money and amazing views . No 2 holes the same .
Will definitely return
Autumn golf
had an enjoyable day off work to have a morning round of golf. Course was very wet and muddy. Being autumn ,lots of leaves coming down some greens were patchy , very scenic location expensive for the golf on offer this time of year
Waste of money
Rang in advance to ask if temporary greens were in play . “What are temporary greens?” Was the response.
Arrived at 10th, 6 players queuing. Complained to staff who had absolutely no idea what was going on “that’s what the computer allows”.
Asked if valley course was available. Was told yes but it was a Par 3 course. Arrived at 1st, 5 ball on tee. And only 2 Par 3’s.
Greens like treacle.
Will I return? If it was a £10 council course and I didn’t like playing golf then maybe.
The slowest Sunday ever...
Course massively overbooked with competitors, hotel guests and visitors all being squeezed on. On arrival we were told that we had been ‘joined up with two others’ which in any normal time wouldn’t have been right but under current circumstances I think very poor. Course incredibly hilly and we walked off after 13 holes as had already been on the course for 4hrs!
Great course.. unique layout..great fun.
Played Saturday...other than some greens in poor condition..the rest of the course was nicely laid out and the views were fantastic...it's s pity some holes were missing their names and information plaques..it's easy to get confused with the trilogy of 9 holes as they often cross each other..we spoke with other golfers who had got lost at some points.. overall a really great days golf and would recommend...thank you
Best kept secret
This is a testing golf course set in one of the most stunning areas of Northamptonshire countryside
The layout will test players of all handicaps physically and mentally but it is also very enjoyable for those who just want to get away from it all.
Although golfing facilities are limited in this pandemic period the course is very well presented and will not disappoint
Slow rate of play
Having played on a bank holiday Monday we expected a longer round of golf, but finishing the 12th hole and it taking 4+ hours we decided to call it a day.
Real shame, course management should allow for a steady rate of play, even when busy.
Good test & some signature holes
Another really enjoyable round @ HL. Some wonderful holes, and the hills and lakes make it a memorable round. The greens were a bit indifferent but given the extremes of weather understandable and didn’t spoil the round.
Great Layout, Poor Condition and very slow.
The course layout is 3 loops of nine. The Greens were in poor condition. The pace of play was terrible first 9 holes 3 and a half hours, the second 9 holes, 2 hrs.
The course was overloaded with society's and the local club members, must be very patient.
Awesome course but soooo hilly
what a fantastic course. Beautifully challenging course, awesome scenery but if you arent fit then not the course for you as very hilly.
Would love to play again but will definitely hire a buggy as this will make it even more enjoyable
Good course, but a 5 hour plus round
A good course which is doing an excellent job of following COVID guidance. The only issue we had was that we played as a 2 ball and were placed immediately behind the club medal comp. Unfortunately this led to us having to wait on every shot and it took 5 hours to complete the course. I feel the club should have blocked out the tee times for half an hour following the medal.
Challenging Holes
Helidon lakes is a scenic , challenging and thought provoking course - as well as a good work out for the legs.
If they would just water the greens - which are rock hard and browning - and the tees it would be a 5 star review
Will be back
Fantastic lake holes
The staff in the pro shop at Hellidon Lakes could not have been more helpful on what was a very wet and windy day. The course even in the wet was in good condition and has some excellent lake holes. I would imagine in the height of the summer this will be an excellent course to play.
Worth a visit.
Course was in very nice condition, greens and distances very deceptive! Fairways were good and very playable. Expect a workout as its very hilly! Definitely worth a visit.
Quite tough and hilly!!
On a glorious February day the course was in fine condition and as testing as usual for a 16 handicapper.
Two or three mat tees for winter but no temp greens. Good tee shots are a must on several holes.
Absolutely fantastic
First timer playing here today absolutely fantastic course well maintained throughout from start to finish. Every hole was a pleasure to play. Even the sun was on our side just like a summers day. My favourite hole had to be the 18th as landed on the green from the tee a bout 7’ from pin.
Will definitely play there again. Keith.
Nice track
First time back at Hellidon since the summer. Found the course conditions ok for the time of the year. Quite soft in places but that’s winter golf for you... thoroughly enjoyed playing here again. On the downside found the bar expensive and service a bit slow. Wouldn’t let it put me off coming back though.
Challenging
Not the longest course but some challenging and varied holes that are enjoyable. beautiful scenery around the lakes. A course where ball position is critcial and its not just about being a long hitter. Rolling countryside mean a fair amount of height changes around the course.
