Great course
Was a little hesitant as it was so cheap but WOW! What a bargin, considering the weather recently it’s in great shape! Played another local course a week back and and at 4 times the price I’d go here every time (don’t always judge a book by its cover or price tag and fancy website)! Can’t wait to come back! Thanks for a cracking round.
Lovely day
Me and my dad played this course today
Was very nice and a good price
The breakfast was lovely
And the staff were very helpful
Keep up the good good work
We will be back for sure
Thank you
Heyrose
Very friendly reception in club shop, enjoyable and challenging course with good greens. Given the amount of rain recently the course had helped up well. Very good value for money.
Yesterdays round
Greens very good and receptive, fairways in good condition and very few pitch marks out of them, course is challenging and interesting with some variety in hole lengths, no feeling of being rushed and pace of play was good, rough was okay lots of loose grass meaning very difficult to find balls even in first cut of rough which did slow play abit, Holes 5/10/14 were favourites
Unplayable
This was once a lovely course in summertime. It has been left to practically ruin. The club has been sold to members which completes on June 1st. The old owners have downed tools and it will take a considerable amount of time and money to make this good again.
Lost balls on the fairway due to the volume of grass cuttings. The grass on the fairways and rough are practically the same length. Every single bunker is GUR, they have weeds and rubble in, and have turned a dark colour - I presume now they’ve drained from all the water. The greens are patchy and some have moss on them which gives your ball air time when putting.
Lloyd the pro is a great guy, super friendly and helpful. Lovely staff behind the bar too but I’m afraid they’re the only positives. Extremely disappointed I wasted £25 to play here rather than elsewhere.
Heyrose
All but four of the fareways had not been cut, there was no difference between the fairways and rough. I lost 6 balls on what was supposed to be the fairways due to the amount of grass cuttings left everywhere a very frustrating day
Lovely course in Knutsford countryside
Played all 18 holes solo on a Sunday evening, easy to walk around and straightforward to follow layout. Some really well designed iconic holes, both 1 and 16 par 3’s were my favourites, quiet and peaceful, the power lines and constant planes overhead bring you back to reality but it’s not so bad, the wildlife more than makes up for it with Pheasant’s and bunnies all over the place :) Conditions are great for May specially considering the rain we’ve had, greens are spot on, will be going back again very soon.
Poor conditions and unkempt
We have played Heyrose a fair few times and have always enjoyed it. Sadly and possibly due to the rainfall it was not very enjoyable yesterday.
The fairways were really long with lots of cut grass across the course. Tee boxes were a bit of a mess too.
The greens weee so slow it was really difficult to judge the roll and pace.
First cut was like a forest. I wouldn’t pay more than £15 for a round in those conditions. I may return in the summer, but it will need to be tempting and vastly improved.
Come on Heyrose!!!!
It's still early in the year!
After reading some of the other reviews prior to playing Heyrose they have left me wondering where these people play the regular golf???
The weather has been atrocious of late as we all know. The course is in good condition. The groundstaff and members are working extremely hard now as the course dries and enables the machinery get out on it. Yes its damp in parts. The fairways are being cut back and the greens are cut and playable. The day we played the bunkers were having extensive work done on them. There was no standing water and only a few plugged lies.
All in all my experience was positive and recommend you play here at some point.
Unplayable
Due to bad weather for 2 days prior to arriving the course was unplayable.
Only 7 holes were open out of 18 but they were still unplayable, the bunkers were mini swimming pools
Balls lost in the fairway
We left after 7 holes. Fairways were too wet and we lost a number of balls that just disappeared into the fairway. Group in front were very slow but I think alot can be blamed on looking for their ball in the fairway. I chose to play a round here because of the 'industry leading' drainage. Could of played the open 7 holes at my own course for free.
Value for the money your paying
The course was in good condition but unfortunately on the day we played the speed of play was very slow. I would say that it's a very good course if you want to practice your iron play. Alot of the holes are closely marked out with 'out of bounds' or 'red/yellow hazard markers' so accuracy off the tee is key. There are one or two dangerous spots where you're teeing off/putting in the line of others approaching te green on another hole. Despite this, the guy in the pro shop was fully keyed up on the knowledge regarding Golfpass membership, and he was very forthcoming with good advice on the course and amenities. All in all, a good day for the money we payed.
Excellent
Great course, greens in lovely condition. My only drawback would be to say the grass on the fairways was a little bit long. Other than that we had a great round and would definitely come back.
Heyrose
