Outstanding value
Played here for the first time and was really pleased with the layout .
There was a couple of negative points the first being that the shop wasn't open but considering the location we guessed it was due to covid .
The greens where slow and very bobbly .
The course layout was really enjoyable and the par 3s would be welcome on any golf course .
We will definitely be returning and touch wood the greens will be a bit better
High Bullen
Obviously little work carried out during lockdown !
Green very very poor and slow
Rough not mowed for awhile
Grsss too long with loose cutting
Would not go back as very frustrated and disappointed as notmallly a great course with interesting views
Currently not worth more than £10 per round more like a farmers field
Beautiful setting, lovely course
Great value for money in beautiful Devon countryside.
Well maintained and a great day out.
Great Location
Absolutely loved playing this course even though most of the fairways were waterlogged due to the Heavy rain that fell over the previous few days. This slowed play a bit as some balls were burying themselves in with no bounce at all and making them impossible to find. Will definitely have to go back again when the conditions are more favourable.
Great views, golf was fair
Fantastic views throughout, however, the course was very wet and stodgy. If you venture off the fairway, your ball is likely to be hidden from view. Sadly, all the facilities at the club house were closed due to COVID.
great please to play
green so much better than earlier in the year and getting better.
Only down side is the ruff-very long in lots of places and easy to lose balls if stray even slightly off course. Especially an issue on 18th.
I know we should keep the ball on the fairway!!! where the fun in in that!
Good test
Great value for money course was in very good condition and there was hardly any one playing
Enjoyable morning
Beautiful surroundings and some cracking views. Really enjoyed my round despite the weather. Pay attention to the course guide to ensure you don’t go off track, next tee signage not always obvious.
When I played the rough was very long and unforgiving, beginners would struggle! Maybe due to covid they don’t have the staff? Was being cut at the time meaning my kit got absolutely covered (I took a few too many trips to the long stuff!). Even with this I would go back, fantastic value for money!
Booking disaster but a pleasant game!
Booked through Golfnow and then phoned the hotel to book a buggy. On arrival for our round they said they'd no record of the buggy booking and did not have one to give us! It was the hottest day of the year so as we definitely required a buggy, it was determined that we couldn't play. (As the Pro shop, clubhouse etc are closed you have to go to the hotel reception to check in). The manager booked us in for a complimentary round the next day, with a buggy by way of compensation. On arrival the next day, no sign of our booking altogether ! unbelievably appalling customer service. We eventually managed to get out on the course with a buggy. The course has some wonderful views and some challenging holes, especially the par 3s'.
The course needs much better signage, to point you in the direction of the next tee. Its a good job the course was not busy as we'd have annoyed a fair few people; going back and forth! Some of the greens were not the best, but staffing at the hotel was severely reduced. For the money we paid it was excellent value.
We went back on a Sunday afternoon to play again and literally had the course to ourselves.
A hot one
A hot one. I like this course and it was in good condition when we played. There were a few bare patches on the greens but no real issue. On the day there was cut grass on the rough where we reckon we lost a few balls underneath. Will definitely return.
Great views
Lovely location. Great price. Greens Under repair but we're not pros and did not prevent a grand day out
Little Hidden Gem
As the title says this course is a little hidden gem, out the way in relation to location but once you’re there the grounds and course are fantastic, really picturesque par 3’s that wouldn’t be a miss on any championship course in the country, greens need a little attention but that is down to the fact that it’s up for sale, well worth the money if you’ve got a spare 5 Mil knocking about.
Great course
Very nice looked after course with a nice selection of holes, very fun and suitable for all handicaps, greens could use a little work but other then that in phenomenal condition, would definitely recommend
Great course
What an excellent place, if I was to retire near here I would have to become a member, I can’t really say enough, the only down side is the greens where not at their best
Great views
Obviously trying to recover the course after a period of Covid inactivity hence greens a little bobbly in places. But overall a very enjoyable if not challenging round for a links member. Not paying enough attention to the layout on the score card at tee 6 could lead to playing hole 10 as we discovered to our cost.
Fantastic views
Great place to play.
A fair course, no tricks or impossible hole.
Would get 10/10 if green were better.
Great value and even better once club house open
Would recommend it.
The views are fantastic.
Such a shame
Have played this course 3/4 times in recent years, and the course has always been in fantastic condition. This time however it was a complete mess, fairways not cut, greens bumpy, spiked and large bare patches. Realize we are not long out of lockdown, but to see it in such a state was really sad, Hope they can get it back to its former glory soon, because its a fantastic place to play golf with many great holes.
Worth waiting for
Heavy rain on arrival which delayed our start. Couse has a good variety of holds although the layout wasn't the most straightforward. A couple of local players did try and help us with the directions but we did end up inadvertently missing out a hole. Greens were very bobbly and quite bare in places, no doubt not helped by a we wet winter, a hot spring and covid lockdown restrictions.
