Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Avoid at all cost
First of all arrived 30 early to warm up and hit range balls. Informed no carts available or they didn’t have enough keys. At turn wanted simple warm food, informed the “chef” was gone for the day. Mind you this was 4pm on a Saturday. No beverage cart. And course is in terrible shape. No fairway grass, greens patchy, place tore up by hogs. This place has gone way down hill. Avoid if possible.
Clubhouse is Falling Down
The clubhouse is falling down and the owner takes no pride in his business. The course is in need of cleanup with picking up tree limbs, drainage improvements, course bathrooms, cart path improvements, on and on. There was no toilet paper in the women’s bathroom for my wife. I live in the neighborhood and I am embarrassed to invite friends to play my neighborhood course with the terrible condition of the facilities.
Great value golf
Enjoyed 18 holes of golf after a break of 6 months. Great value deal but course in poir condition after wi ter rains. Will play again next week
Greens are difficult
Too pch slope on some greens. It was like playing putt putt on a few of them.
Golf Course Condition Poor
Lack of maintenance. Many broken parts and uneven golf path. Plenty of muddy spots and unnecessary fencing along the paths. Green dirty and lack of trash removal. Overall very disappointing.
Please fix this course very frustrating.
There were no yardage markers, too much water to hit over, standing water on the sides of the fairways to lose your ball, layout is too difficult for the average player, will not be back,
Well, it used to be a nice course.
Fairways are in terrible shape. Lots of ruts and uneveness and not by design. You take a beating on the cart paths which are broken eroding and need a serious makeover. Tee box signs need to be power washed as they are filthy dirty and some so dirty you cannot read them unless up close. Greens were okay. I will not be playing here again. This course was very nice 5+ years ago but appears no once cares about it today.
Great wood
It was very relaxing weather is right and slow pace people are nice!!
Good and bad
Overall, I really like playing here. Major reason is convenience, we live about 15 min away. The greens, overall, are great. The fairways are hit and miss. Some bare spots, but that’s just me being picky honestly. The back nine is a little more challenging and I’m the 2 times I’ve played there… the front nine moved along very smooth but everything gets slow on the back. Not the courses fault, some people just need more lessons lol. In my opinion, it is the first track I look for tee times, so my preferred course living here in Sugar Land.
Ok
For the price to play at this course, I thought it should have been in better shape.
Great layout
The course has a great layout a lot of water and play. It i needs some tender loving care. Greens are in great shape but the fairways grass was good. But they need to be filled in with dirt because it’s very dangerous to ride down the Fairway
Good course
Showing its age for sure…the greens needed attention and were rock hard. But the course was good for the price. My family had a good time.
