Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Place was a dump. Needs a lot of TLC. Could be a nice place again with a ton of effort.
Needs a lot of care
Rolling fairways, true fair greens and well maintained are three qualities I look for in a. club. Unfortunately Greatwood has let things slide and the course features none of the above.
The greens were poor, full of weeds and areas where the roll speed was affected. In addition when we played the greenskeeper didn't bother to replace the flag correctly in its hole so the flag was leaning over and in more than one occasion this has resulted in damage to the lip. Pure laziness. On one green the flag had fallen out in the wind as we watched !
Every single tee box was strewn with used teepegs
and just added to the general appearance of what was once a proud course.
This could be a great course, it has the layout and complexity of holes to make you have to think about shots, I just wish it was maintained better.
Greens in good shape
Course was in good condition for winter time golf, greens were holding shots and ball rolled well. Good course for the value.
Groups of 5 ???
Nothing worse than being behind two groups of five. I don't know where this group of five nonsense comes from but there was no ranger on the day I played so the madness continues ....
Poor conditions
Very disappointed in:
1. Uneven and rock hard tee boxes
2. Extremely hard fairways and greens
While place needs some TLC
The whole place needs some TLC. I understand it's a daily fee course but it needs some help. Course, range, pro shop, bar and please get better range balls. It seems like no one wants to go the extra mile to make this a great place. All the way from how the course is kept to inside the small pro shop, if you want to call it that. Bald headed guy was rude and has zero personality. I will never take my money there again. That's sad cause it's so close. Please step up the game and make this place enjoyable again with better upkeep, customer service, and course conditions.
Course Needs Some Love
The layout of the course was great! Small, elevated greens and lots of bunkers provided a nice challenge throughout the round. I was, however, very disappointed in the condition of the course. Multiple tee boxes had little to no grass, teeing off of dirt, and some greens and fairways had the same lack of attention. This course would be great if the appropriate attention was given to daily/weekly course maintenance, but unfortunately there are many courses in the area with cheaper greens fees with much better course care.
Teeing area
Teeing areas were very cluttered with broken tees.
Very insightful. I recommend placing catch boxes
Near tee markers. Maybe players would get the msg.
Great Day at GW
Greatwood is in good shape right now. The bunkers appear to have been redone. The greens are as good as ever and the staff is top notch.
Changing course
The course has some challenging holes.
Short course with narrow fairways and tight lies
Played Greatwood for the first time today, from whites; I was paired with two gentlemen that play there often, great company; because of the draught condition going on for the last couple of months, fairways were hard, which made the course even more challenging as it compensate lack of length with narrow fairways and plenty of fairway bunkers; greens were well maintained and have got plenty of ondulations; I will definitively play again here, using more the 3-wood and less the driver; this course demands course management due to its narrow and sometimes tilted fairways, as well as green side bunkers with very high lips.
Great course to play.
It is a very good course that I personally like to play.
This course has great features
Good value of money to play at this golf course
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
From tee box to green this course is in horrible condition. The tee boxes are made of dirt and broken tees, very little grass growing, making it nearly impossible to put a tee down. The fairways are brick hard in places and then swampy in others from several broken sprinkler heads. Every green has damage and sand filling. Overall a complete waste of money and time. can't believe they charge $55 during the day and $34 for twilight. Take care of course or shut it down Greatwood!
Poor and dishonest customer service
I called before I played to inquire about the condition of the greens.
I was told that the greens were in good condition and had been airified 3 weeks ago.
However, when we started playing, we found that the greens were sanded, and did not appear to have been mowed in a week!
I wish I had the name of the person who lied about the green conditions, so I could report him to management there.
Golf is still better than work
I hadn't played this course in a while, so I decided to just pick up a round off GolfNow and play solo. My first big disappointment was a sign in the Pro Shop that announced that they were aerating on that day. The ground were terribly hard and cracking. And there was no beer girl.
This course has a great layout
This course in the past has been enjoyable to play on any day. The condition of this course is deplorable and the cost is not a good value at all. Every tee box was littered with broken tee's because they are not watering . Areas in the fairway were uncut. Even some green that had excessive growth. There were places in the fairway that we coul not find a ball. The course is really not being properly maintained from tee to gree. Lastly the beautiful clubhouse left a lot to be desired .
Sad thing is about Greatwood is, it probably was the management that said that. They are very rude there.
