About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Greatwood! Worth it!
I usually play at this course whenever they have a good deal going on. It’s not far from where I live, and it’s WAY cheaper than the surrounding courses near me. Challenging course, but it has a good layout. I have played here about 4-6times so far and have never had a complaint with the course or staff.
No regrets
Excellent course condition by this time of the year, was really surprised by the shape of fairways & greens. Keep it up

Good GC
The GC is between Katy & Sugar Land, good location.
#18 hole is very beautiful. Some holes challenge. Like the location and price in weekday.
Should have been half price
This course had standing water in nearly every fairway. A potentially beautiful course but major drainage issues. Really needs to be visited by a good course engineer who can address this. We were told it was “little wet” so it would be cart path only. It was a swamp and we should have been issued SUVs. You had to pick you spots on the cart paths or even get out of the cart!
golf game
played w/ the "BOYS" good group of regulars, fun, not pushy. Good course, very hilly greens, better be a decent putter! Everything below the hole.
First mild day of the winter
The layout is a challenge if you’ve never played Greatwood. There’s a moat around the 18th green that you can’t see until you’re 100 yards out. Also the 10th is tough if the course is soft with cool temps as it was when I played. A short drive into the wind leaves very little room to go around the lake in front of the green. That par 3 7th with the elevated and well protected green is hard to reach. Not much room on the 8th tee to get around the lake. Greens and fairways are well maintained.

Lots of water
The course was in fair shape. Greens were surprisingly fast considering the course was a little wet. Expensive considering the condition of the course.
Course conditions
The course needs a great deal of maintenance .
The tee boxes were poorly kept
The fairways were very beaten up.
Sunday afternoon
Good course, well kept. Excellent greens this day. Pace of play little slow, but all the guys trying to squeeze a round in before Christmas.
