The Bar/Restaurant at Mount Pleasant
The course is excellent, great pity it is due to close.
The windows & walls of the Bar could use a decent clean to make the area more amenable.
Great course
Given the three heatwaves we've already had this year, the course is in great shape and shows no signs of the stresses that other courses are showing at present. We had an enjoyable round and the cafe /restaurant had a great selection of food (service was a little slow).
Good selection of fog legs, water features and undulating landscape means there is plenty of variety in the course. Only tragedy is that the course is set to close on October 2025 and be converted to housing - a real shame given the lack of good courses in the vicinity.
Mr Alan O'Mahony
What used to be a reasonable 9-hole course, was changed to a fascination 18-hole course which has everything. Water holes, dog legs, St. Andrews style undulations, a war-time bunker(!) and a peaceful back drop.
Add to that an excellent club house with friendly, cheerful staff, a good menu and a big selection of drinks, this place fights way above it's weight and beats lots of nearby larger courses for a great atmosphere.
Love playing here!
Challenging round
Great welcome at the course from friendly staff at the Pro shop. Course was in great shape and proved really interesting and challenging.
Food and beverages were also to a great standard.
Definitely like to play there again and was worth the 1.5 hr drive from Essex to play it.
Great days golf
Excellent course, varied holes throughout. Great 19th hole with good food and service.
Greens superb, fairways not so at present
Played this course a few times before and always loved it but the fairways are so dry and barren at present they are hard to distinguish and it’s like hitting the ball off concrete from them. Greens however are in super condition.
Such a Shame
This was a lovely course, a good challenge for all abilities, the one downside was the lack of direction from hole to hole
Course in very good condition, friendly staff, only complaint was that we had a very slow 3 ball in front of us, none of whom had never seen a club or ball before and would not let us play through, apart from that all greens and fairways in immaculate condition, would highly recommend
Tight little course
Mount Pleasant was originally a 9 hole course caeved out of farmland, which had a subsequent 9 holes added a number of years later. The original ones are easy to spot with mature trees and water hazards, whereas the later 9 are more like a traditional links course and sparsely treeless. The contrasting holes make for a fairly challenging and scenic round (I was way over par but then I always am), where accuracy off the tee is very important. There are also very undulating fairways where an unlucky bounce can kick you way off line. It was a splendid tight little course which was great fun to play. The pro shop isn't overly well stocked, although it has the basics, but the cafe,/bar lounge is absolutely first class, with an extensive reasonably priced menu, with specials and a separate breakfast menu for fuelling up before your round. The only sad thing about the whole experience was discovering that the course has been sold for housing development so play it while you can.
Amazing course with helpful staff
Fantastic staff members that go above and beyond :)
Great course with a perfect clubhouse
Great course, friendly staff and a perfect clubhouse for a post round beer. Back 9 is a nicer layout than the front 9, but both are good to play. Fairways & Greens all in great condition.
Nice surprise
First time we played this course and it was a really well presented course. Good condition, the greens were really good and true and the staff were all very friendly. We’ll definitely be back.
Honest review
Very good back. I hear the course is due to close on 31st October which is very sad to hear.
