Waxahachie Golf Club

About
The Waxahachie Golf Club plays to a par 70, 6,156 yards from the tips, and is famous for its blind doglegs and hilly terrain. The design incorporates a good combination of golf holes, both long and short par 4s, and especially the solid par 5s that all play over 500 yards from the tips. The opening hole is one of the easiest–a short par 3 that is one of the better ways to start a round. But the next hole is the number one handicap, a 513-yard par 5.
Getting there : From I-35 south, take the Business 287 exit and turn left. Drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

It’s basically a golf course in a cow pasture
At first glance when you first pull in to the course it looks good. Hole 1 and 10 look good. Every hole in between us trash. Absolutely no care In the fairways. You’re hitting off of dirt and gravel. It doesn’t look like they’ve seen a drop of water in a couple of months.
Absolutely horrible.
This course is in desperate need of new management and/or investors. This course is in a good location with an easy commute from the South Arlington Area. First thing to note is that it is an extremely hot and dry summer but that is really no excuse to let a course go the way this one has. I have played just about every public course in the greater DFW metroplex and none compare to the demise of Waxahachie Golf Club. Starting with the tee boxes, they appear to not have been mowed in at least a week which is completely unacceptable even with the lack of rain. The fairways are not even fairways in that I have seen better grass in our pasture that sees no watering outside of the minimal rain we get. The greens or whatever you would like to call them are the worst I have ever seen. There is next to no grass on them (all uneven dirt patches). The few greens that did have grass were so unplayable in that there was absolutely no sense in even attempting puts do to the unreliable roll, bounces and weeds scattered throughout. You could flop a shot up on the greens and they would bounce off in any given direction contrary to any read you may have gotten.
I feel for the staff of this course in that they really have a positive attitude and are very friendly to their guests. However, I do not feel that it is of good business practice to continue to receive money from their patrons and expect them to enjoy their round of golf. This course is in desperate need of a renovation and the neighborhood would be much better for it. The houses in the community are beautiful and it is a shame that behind a 3/4 to a million dollar home there is an eyesore such as this course.
Would not recommend this course to anyone. I'm sorry for such a negative review but I hope this will urge management to seek help.
It’s a goat track
Don’t get me wrong, this course is 100% a goat track, every shot feels like you’re hitting out of the rough, the tee boxes need to be mowed and a lot of greens need serious repair, but I had a good time. For the price I paid ($18) it was a good time. Staff was very friendly, pace of play was good, interesting layout with a lot of par 3’s. If you can set expectations it’s a good course for the price.
Needs a lot of help.
I played here because my wife is learning to play. Not bad for that.
Tee boxes. They are thick. And the tips markers are just thrown to the side on some holes.
Fairways rough hard a concrete.
Greens. Maybe the worst I have ever seen. Some fury. Some first. Some looks like caddy shack was blown up here.
Staff friendly and nice
I wish someone would dump some money in this place.
Terrible
I read some bad reviews but I also read others saying 'they're working on it'. I can tell you that wasn't the case when I went. Greens were terrible, course was unkept.
Great Course for New Golfers
The greens aren’t perfect, but it is beautiful little golf course and the staff could not be nicer. My son and I love playing here. It is a great value for the price.
Better every week
I went to this course for the first time a month ago and I’ve been back every week since. I live in Mansfield but Mansfield National can get pretty pricey so I search for golfing deals so I can get out more often. I decided to try out Waxahachie and am so glad that I did. I was surprised at what great layouts Waxahachie had. The greens weren’t in the best shape, but have gotten better every week. I’ve never met staff who are as friendly before. The difficulty level is perfect. There are some wide fairways which are forgiving, but elevated greens which are not. I plan on continuing to golf here often.
It’s coming around
First time on the course the greens were un-puttable. Second time on the course I could tell they were fixing greens. Today, pleasantly surprised that most greens were looking good. The course is headed in the right direction. I will continue to support the local course with the progress I’ve seen over 5 months.
