Scruffy condition
I play woolfox at least 10 times a year either as a four ball or with a society I play with. Sorry to say I found the tee boxes a little scruffy and the fairway not much better , greens were really good though but very slow , course needs a little TLC on tees and fairways and it will be a lovely course , also the water features in the ponds were not switched on
Great little course
Really enjoyed Woolfox, 2nd time playing it so more aware of where I should be on each hole. Quite open and the rough is not too punishing. Quite short and good for higher handicaps but still a challenge for lower handicaps. Will definitely be back.
First time playing this course today
Lovely greeting by the clubhouse staff. Gave me all the information needed and couldn’t help enough. Course layout is very good, with difficult par 3s dotted all the way around. The strong wind definitely made it a test. The greens are in superb condition. The fairways are average, but the one thing that lets down the course is the tee boxes. Divers and mounds everywhere and one was even a winter tee.
The very reasonable price almost made up for the poor tees.
I would definitely recommend the course for new golfers starting out.
Great course, better with some tweeks.
Lovely course with some real scenic holes. Little bit of confusion on where to go at certain times but once you’ve played it it’s nice you get used to the layout. Not having the option to play 9 holes is a bit of a bummer but obviously can’t be helped if the course wasn’t designed with that in mind. There is no halfway house / toilets when you reach 9 holes. Due to having to play 18 holes every time you play, it wouldn’t go a miss having a half way house with the ability to refill a water bottle or go for a bathroom break.
These are only tiny things to keep in mind if you wish to play.
Also the golf reception does not open until 8am even though the signage states 6am. This means that if you wish to get a cart or hire a trolley this is not possible. Due to this I had to walk the course with my clubs so again something to keep in mind if you’re playing for the first time.
Ok..
Overpriced for what it is, when Greetham Valley is 10 mins down the road, cheaper, 2 courses and in better condition, why even go here.
Short immature parkland in okay condition
Short even off whites parkland course with a little water, but still immature. Fairways were scrappy but bunkers and greens in good condition if a little slow. Played through three groups looking for balls so quickish round. Not worth the money even at the hot deal rate.
Good
Really liked the course but the GPS didn’t work and there was no yardage back up.
We had a society in front who were fine and good company.
It’s a long walk in after 9 !!
Friday golf
The course is in excellent condition and the greens perfect. The only downside is that Woofox is now prioritising the spa clientele, for example the menu is definitely not designed for groups of golfers. And there are no draft beers. I can't see this being a destination for golf societies.
Love it!
Absolutely love playing the Woolfox, some tricky holes on the first 9 but the second 9 you can open your shoulder and smash driver! Greens are big and were running fast.
Can’t wait to return
Woolfox
Great course, a enjoyable corse to play for any handicap.
A young course with great potential.
Clearly quite a young course which needs to grow out, but it will come good. A great starter course or for those who are not worried about hitting a driver every hole.
Sadly felt the greens could do with improving but pretty sure they had started this work just before we were there.
Terrible greens and poor course maintenance
Shame to see a course not well loved. Bunkers have stones, greens are bobbly and half hearted attempts to sand, shoes priories lie elsewhere despite the excessive green fee charged. Such a shame when the layout is enticing with good scoring opportunities, but experience ruined by severe lack of maintenance team presence, teed off early and nobody to be seen working on the course on a Sunday….
Great set up
Only reason for not a 5 star course condition was as it was having maintenance on the greens so in a weeks time it’ll be perfect
Good but frozen
Great course. No winter greens. Course was frozen solid tho so just a case of wrong day for us. Will definitely come back once the weather thaws
Didn’t play
Only 9 holes open. Around 13 players waiting to tee off on the first. Waited 40 minutes after our tee time before we just left due to time and daylight hours. No mention of the state of play when booking in. Very disappointed paying and not playing.
Winter Greens
Disappointed that I was not told/informed when booking online that the greens had been spiked/ fertilised.
Maybe offer half price green fees when this type of maintenance is being carried out.
No putting green either ( which wouldn't have made any difference due to maintenance )
Driving range bays closed due to torn mats.
A bit soulless
First impressions. Really unwelcoming staff. We had left a message to ask for a buggy on a previous day but no one called us back and they didn’t have any when we got there. Young staff with little passion and interest to even offer an explanation. Set in a clubhouse that has the look and feel of a community centre function room with no windows or views of the lovely fountains that they have installed on the course. Course is ok. Fairways ok with good features. However greens very poor - scarified and hardened like a grid of dips and holes a leaving a rough and irregular flowing surface on most greens. Average all round but could be so much better - the unkempt nature of building materials and barriers on show by the entrance rather than being tidied away, just makes it feels like no-one cares.
