Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Best Ever
I have played Canyon West many times. Today was the best I have ever seen it. Haven't been there in several years and they have made some changes, all for good. It was great!
pace of play
we had a couple that had the same tee time as did a foursome. there was no course marshal or starter so there were 6 gofers trying to tee off at the same time. the couple hit after the foursome which backed us up. the couple were some what slow ( beginners) which made play slow also. GET A COURSE MARSHAL ON THE COURSE and STARTER.
Ridiculously slow!
Took 3 hrs to play front nine. No Marshall or course employee managing pace of play.
Fun Course and Great Value
Canyon West is a real treat. Course conditions have improved quite a bit recently. The layout is a blast and the views are awesome. Really fun day every time.
Needs TLC
First of all, this is probably my favorite course in all of DFW. Super unique design, beautiful scenery, challenging yet fair, but I’ve never seen it in such bad shape. Half the fairways are dead. The greens are slower than normal and inconsistent. A few of the tee boxes are so hard it’s nearly impossible to tee up and one of the greens look diseased. Granted it’s been a really bizarre time year as far as weather goes, but it shouldn’t be this bad and it doesn’t help when people disrespect the course, don’t listen to signs and drive right up to the greens. It’s also obvious they are doing a lot of work but I’m afraid it’s not enough. This course has SO much potential and if they got it looking better, they could charge so much more. I won’t be back for awhile but I really hope they can fix everything bc this course is incredible.
Fun Round
We booked two threesomes back to back and had a grand time in the coolest weather June has offered us in years. Course conditions were good except for the tall fairway and rough but with all the recent rains it was expected. They are surely moving this course in the right direction. High 5 to the owners and staff!
Great people working there.
My and my friends love to play there. The guys at the pro shop are always friendly and helpful. Great attitude and atmosphere, people at the grill and the cart girls are so nice and their service is awesome. We’ll be back soon. Thanks to all the people who work there.
Post Rain Round
Lots of rain had just come through, so the course was pretty wet. Other than that, the tee boxes were really the only aspect of the course that weren't in super great conditions.
Always a great place to play!
This is the fifth time I have played Hideout! It has improved every year over the past five years! Beautiful facilities, friendly staff and great food from the grill! Challenging golf course in a beautiful setting! Never crowded and always a very satisfying experience!
In desperate need of repair!!!!
I have played Canyon west mini mini times. It is normally one of my favorite courses. Today we played and I was very very disappointed in many of the fairways except for the last four holes. If they don’t get something going pretty soon this place could go downhill very quickly. I hope that they get it together and get it back to the shape that it once was. I was eating lunch and playing golf with some other people today. They all commented on how bad it looked!! We’ve had lots of rain here in Texas, I just really think that the greens need to be punched. Not sure if it’s a money, or a staffing issue. Please folks of canyon west get this place back to where it was. For $65 on the weekend, there are many many places near me that are in much much better shape!
