Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Crazy windy when we played
We had been warned that it could be a little windy, but it was much more windy than anticipated. The forecast showed 10+ mph winds, but it was easily 20+ all day. The course was in nice shape, greens were in great shape. Overall the course was not very challenging. It is scenic and definitely worth playing, but I wouldn't be inspired to play this course regularly.
Great course!
This is, by far, the best public course in this area! You'll have battle the hard-pan fairways this time of year and that happens at any course in the cold months. Everyone is friendly and the course is challenging and it is very affordable, especially if you book your round on the GolfNow app.
Always a great experience
We were behind a slow two some and had a little argument but jimmy took care of the situation. I play this course and always the pace of plays is good, the staff have amazing attitude and they are happy to help you.
One of my favorites!!!
I play here at Canyon West often as it’s one of the best courses around for the money. It’s often windy here which makes you work a little.
Fun
Great course! Sluggers paradise with a few technical holes. Fair greens that hold a line with decent speed
Add Canyon West to the list!
Nice course with plenty of scenic views.
Course plays well. We had groups behind us and in front of us all day, the downfall is we were pressured all day. A few of the cart paths have you driving in to the front side of the tee boxes.
Only 3 complaints:
Strangely the run up areas on many greens were saturated and in places muddy. I’ve never seen this here before.
The speed on the greens seemed to change back and forth during the round.
The greens had so many furrows I wondered what they planted. I know it’s a hold over from aeration and all courses get this to varying degrees. However, this was the worst I have encountered. It impacted several putts.
I must say in my few other rounds here I found the conditions good.
Good as always
Friendly staff and good service, the guy on the pro shop is always helpful and so nice. The environment on the course is amazing.
