Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

One of my favorites!!!
I play here at Canyon West often as it’s one of the best courses around for the money. It’s often windy here which makes you work a little.
Fun
Great course! Sluggers paradise with a few technical holes. Fair greens that hold a line with decent speed
Add Canyon West to the list!
Nice course with plenty of scenic views.
Course plays well. We had groups behind us and in front of us all day, the downfall is we were pressured all day. A few of the cart paths have you driving in to the front side of the tee boxes.
Only 3 complaints:
Strangely the run up areas on many greens were saturated and in places muddy. I’ve never seen this here before.
The speed on the greens seemed to change back and forth during the round.
The greens had so many furrows I wondered what they planted. I know it’s a hold over from aeration and all courses get this to varying degrees. However, this was the worst I have encountered. It impacted several putts.
I must say in my few other rounds here I found the conditions good.
Good as always
Friendly staff and good service, the guy on the pro shop is always helpful and so nice. The environment on the course is amazing.
Great course
Always a good time out here at canyon west, course I. Great shape, good pace , great staff
Fun layout with drainage issues and very slow play
Lots of elevation changes and challenging tee shots, which makes the layout fun to play. The approaches to the greens and aprons are too wet, so it negatively affects chipping and no running the ball into the greens. Also, on a Saturday, they allow groups of 5. At the turn I asked, because 2 groups in front of us was slowing down play, and the starter said they were allowed. It has severely slowed down the round, so it's made a fun round a frustrating round of sit and wait. The round took 5 hours 34 minutes.
Nice place
The place was in nice shape. There was a group of 4 that was playing a 4 hour round which is acceptable pace, but there was many smaller groups of 2 or 3 behind them that were waiting every shot. I skipped 2 holes to pass up 4 groups and there was 3 holes empty.
My favorite
I love this course, it plays friendly and challenging at the same time. The views are spectacular and the course layout plays well for my game. Also the owner owns Chicken E my favorite.
Great Course
Canyon West is a great course to play. Price is good and staff is very friendly. The course is beautiful with some amazing views. The fairways and greens play pretty fast but it may be this time of season when grass starts going dormant. The only item (and very small) is that areas in front of some greens were still wet from watering which stop the ball quickly if you didn't hit the green. Overall though, a great course, great people. I would recommend Canyon West to anyone that asked about a nice course to play.
Great course
Super nice course, it was in great condition. And the greens were fast and in amazing shape
