Golfer Reviews
Still good, but subtle decline
Played here a couple years ago and it was in beautiful condition. This time it was good, but several of the water features weren’t functional so it lost some of the beauty aesthetics that it possessed before. More weeds, but still the fairways were green. A little more attention to detail and it would be a top course again.
Outstanding Course
This is one of a handful of courses that are in outstanding condition (from tee to green). We’ll be back.
Hidden Gem
I haven’t been out to this course since 2007. I was pleasantly surprised. We pretty much had the course to ourselves and we had a blast. I’ll be taking my wife and daughter out here soon. The are both avid golfers and will enjoy the course
Still a Gem
Always love playing this course, and with all the Spring rain over the last few months, the course is nice and green. Greens are firm and roll true. Food is top notch as usual. No complaints.
Owner on site
This was my first time to play the course. New ownership from about three years ago. You could tell they are making improvements to the course, good layout, very nice course conditions, a new lodge, food and beverages available. The entire staff was very freindly and supportive. I went with a group and everyone enjoyed the two days of golf. It has the flair of Texas Hill Country. If you are in the area I recommend playing.
Fun Track in Great Shape - June 2026
The course was in fantastic shape overall. A few places in the fairway were still recovering from aeration but it wasn't at all a bother to hit from. Greens were spongy, but ran a great speed. Other than me forgetting my shoes and having to pair a fourth pair for the year in the clubhouse everything was great.
Course is in great shape
Hidden gem.. Course is in great shape.. Fairways and greens were superb
The course was in great condition and the staff was friendly, but as of right now, the kitchen is out of commission due to replacing the grill. We grabbed their on the go hotdog and they were not the greatest. It was like chewing on a rubber dog toy so I suggest for now until they get their grill fixed if you’re looking to eat, you might wanna bring something or call and see if they got the grill open.
Hidden Gem, Not for the Weak...
Very challenging course, tight fairways and many blind shots. One of the best par 5's in Texas right on the Brazos River. Worth the drive and the play.
Cheeseburgers are outstanding!
Need Signage
The parking lot was extremely small, and there are no sign indicating where the Pro Shop is located, bag drop or cart pickup. Had to park on the other side of the lake and walk back across and ask several people where the golf shop or pro-shop was located. Staff was friendly, but did not know how Golf Now purchases worked. Course was beautiful and challenging, but it appears that the staff caters to the members not a guest. If they do not want public players, then they should simply become private.
Sugar tree is a very special place, and it's sad that you don't recognize that. Perhaps you should join Dallas National or Vaquero or someplace similar that doesn't require you to think for yourself.
