Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Returned to an old favorite
Our group plays several courses in the area and this is one of our favorites! Greens were sanded today so that took some getting used to. But other than that we all had decent rounds.
Really good course, but 6 is too many to play together
I really like Canyon West, but this is at least the 3rd time I’ve played it and had a group of six hold up the entire front 9.
Great Day
The course was in great shape and it is a beautiful course this time of year to play with all the flowers, water falls, water running springs and rocks gardens areas.
Used to love it out here
To put it bluntly, the course is in terrible shape right now. I have heard there may be some new owners or maintenance scheduled, but right now, it's best to avoid.
I used to love it out here.... great views of six Texas Counties, elevation changes, good greens, and lots of wildlife. Only the elevation remains. More houses along fairways, fencing that narrows several holes, and lack of maintenance is apparent. The greens are about half the size they used to be, they have inch-long grass on them, and lots of weeds. Where there used to be fairways, now is mud, rocks, and bare dirt. Several bunkers were worn down to the liners. Several tee boxes had grass that covered my 2 1/4" tees. It was a nice country-ish course, now a goat track with overpriced $5 hot dogs and some angry staffers.
Not worth the drive any more.... just unfortunate.
Beautiful course, not clean bathrooms
This is a beautiful course, fun to play..
Bathrooms on the course were not clean, I didn’t even want to walk in there!
Worth the Drive
From me, it is 45 minute drive. However, th course is always in excellent condition. The greens are relatively fast but, roll well. The elevation changes are great - you can see forever from a lot of the tee boxes - BTW, the tee boxes are flat, and well maintained. There are some blind T shots so the first time, it pays to drive up and see where you should aim. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The carts have GPS on board and it is a sophisticated GPS with hazards, etc. - FREE. You will enjoy the scenery and the open air and the golf. Challenging layout - but, the fairways are very generous. Greens are pretty sizable and well bunkered. There are fairway bunkers as well - but, again, the fairways are wide. No negatives to my mind. A great way to get out of the city and enjoy a day on the links.
Cool and windy
Fairways were very hard which was odd since we have had so much rain. greens were in good shape. appreciated the raised cup to help with flattening the curve.
Water, Quick
Love the overall track; it’s varied and has elevation changes aplenty. But a lack of water has resulted in hard pan fairways and little grass growth.
Still one of the most enjoyable, entertaining courses I’ve played in the Northcentral Texas area.
Great challenging course
Truly enjoy playing here. Wind is almost always a factor but greens are great and design is a tremendous golfing experience
A Fine Experience
For mid-March play after several days of rainy weather, Canyon West delivered and then some. It played fairly long from the Blues given the wet conditions. The fairways were still dormant, but the greens rolled fairly well, the sand traps were better than most, and the diversity of the track and, particularly, the elevation changes from tee to green were a pleasure to take on.
If a could stand the Texas heat, I'd come back and play it when it shows it's best.
great golfing
All you need are clubs and time. You will want to come back again and again.
