Rating 71.0

The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.

Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.

Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.

Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Definitely playing here again

Awesome views, Great layout, Nice driving range, GPS on the golf carts with flyover modes at each hole. Cart girls were on point...we saw multiple out there and you could It was awesome, especially on a hot day. The only drawback is that the greens had just been sanded a couple days before I played, so that made them much more difficult. I will be going back for sure in the future. I will take some pictures next round to upload. Bottom line....GO PLAY THIS COURSE!!

Course

Even with the summer weather this course is in the best shape I’ve seen it in a long time. Greens were fast but true. There are a few places in the fairways that could use some help but Overall in good shape. Was easy to get tees in the ground on the tee box.

Canyon West Golf Club Super fun layout!

Played this course on a Sunday morning, pace was slow but it wasn’t due to the staff getting groups out on time. What I saw is that the course is relatively short so less skilled players are usually playing from the wrong tee’s. I’m a 10 handicap and playing from the blues was super enjoyable. Course layout is great, plays like a country club because it compliments most players games if you can just aim and hit the target. The par 3’s are great, 12 is really short but has a narrow green so hard to go long or short as they usually have pin placement close to the front. I would love to play here again, Hopefully the pace is better than the 5hr round today.

Good golf great views

For a different experience from the Ft Worth courses. Canyon West will challenge you. It does have have a nice mix of long and short holes and great views from hole 8 and 9 tee boxes. And an excellent view from the club house. Greens today were in good shape.

Great Layout

Good pace of play on the front not that fluid on the back nine.

The variety of holes is engaging and entertaining, the staff is very friendly.

A good challenge for a 32 handicapper.

I am a 32 handicapper and had some goals before I began. One was at least 4 pars, I made 3. Not too disappointed by that.

The next goal was not three puts, That didn't happen. The greens were among the fastest I have ever played on and in great shape. Even the rain didn't slow them down much.

My third goal was no mulligans. ummm. let's just say that didn't happen.

Pathetic Conditions

Unfortunately, this course has been let go!!! Canyon West was at one time a really nice place to play but will never get another dollar from my pocket. For the 2nd time In 2 months this place was a complete disappointment as the Greens are the worst I have seen in many years of playing golf. Please do not even consider this place if you carry a handicap below 20 as this place is really no test of golf skill at all. Not worth a $10 Fee much less $60!

Great Bang for your Buck

I loved this course. For 2 people, 18 holes & a cart, we paid about $100. So $50/golfer.

All things included, though, it felt like it should have been $70-80/golfer. I was very thoroughly pleased.
