Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Fun round
Hot deal @ $14.xx. Carts are about a year old, Yamaha, and worked perfectly. GPS worked great, although it did re-boot once, which caused no problem. Conditions were excellent and as a single, another pleasant gentleman, Dale, joined me on # 7. There were 3 twosomes in front of us, so we did wait for the complete round, but still played within just over 2 hours. Greens looked a little dry but played excellently. Cart girl strolled thru several times, which we didn’t use, but a welcome change. No hiccups throughout the course. Looks like management has addressed all past problems and worked to make this a first class venue again.
With Holiday Hills & Sugartree no longer available thru GolfNow, this is the closest course to me. Split Rail dropped out years ago as has Oeste. Good venue but as loaded as it was today, Monday, in the middle of the winter with a high of 68 degrees, it’ll be tuff to get “hot deals” as things warm up!
Greg
I have played here several times. The layout is good, visually very appealing on most holes. Being the end of January the fairways were thin to very thin in places, lots of tight lies. Looking forward to May when it will be grown in and lush. Good course and a good value, one of my favorites.
Canyon West Review
Wife and I played there today for first time. Somewhat challenging mainly because uncertainty of course. Lots of hills, hidden greens. It had rained in the area last week and there were some wet areas but still surprisingly playable.
The staff is great! Very friendly and more important, considerate. At the 10th hole I received a call about a family emergency and we had to stop play. The staff gave us a raincheck for 9 holes, INCLUDING cart fee. That is Texas hospitality! Definitely will play there again. We did not have a chance to check on the 19th hole amenities.
Mishap on t time
We had a t time at 11:50 and there was 4 carts waiting to t off at 11 50 I don't know if this is a first come first t off kind of place maybe it was backup because of fog I really don't know but other than that our 4some had a great time.
Solid Course
This course is a beauty! Although today was very windy I can only imagine what it must be like when it is nice outside and even in the summer. I really enjoyed playing this course. It is a fairly easy course if the winds aren’t howling, so for mid to high handicappers it is a great course for practice. In from Mansfield so it’s well worth the drive to at least play once. I do have one bad thing to say, the holes on the greens looked roughed up today on the edges, I’m not sure how often they’re punched for new holes, or if previous golfers just messed them up, but like I said great course and challenging. Greens are steady and straight.
Canyon West
Some of the fairways are getting a little bare. The greens are good and fast. The layout is good. Lot of elevation changes.
Go Play This Course
I really enjoy every trip to Canyon West. It is 90 miles from my house but well worth the drive. Beautiful course with nice houses around it. Course conditions are very good and, in my opinion, much better than its neighbor Sugar Tree.
I will be back soon
My Secret
I hate to write this review for fear that a lot of people will read it and head out to Canyon West. I love playing Canyon West, the staff is great the carts are nice and the course layout is spectacular. The fairways are a little hard right now because of the winter, but other than that what is not to like about not playing a flat course in Texas. I hope only a few people read this because I like that it is a secret course west of Fort Worth and well worth the drive. I love the place.
Texas scenic views in Parker County
It’s a good place to play without question. Good layout, good views etc. Course condition is above average. Greens aren’t holding very well. Pretty rock hold. Putts roll decent though. Outside of that you will like it
