Canyon West Golf and Sports Club

Everything was greatly maintained but the greens were not in great shape -- sandy, bumpy, and unpredictable putts.

I’ve played this course a couple times back in 2022 and just played again for the first time since then. I really enjoy the layout of this course and the surrounding views/terrain. The course itself isn’t very difficult. Carts are newer and nice with screens that you can even order food/drink from. The greens were slow and some other areas need some work (like most courses) but overall good conditions. Had a 2pm tee time on the Saturday of MDW and almost nobody was out there. No pressure behind us which was nice. Would definitely play again.

This has been one of my favorite courses around for awhile now. Last spring was the worse I have ever seen it and it’s safe to say there has been A TON of improvement. Greens bigger, fairways sodded and well kept. Overall it’s gotten a lot better.. the biggest downside are the once well kept greens. They are riddled with weeds. I am sure management is working to fix it but it’s a shame they were let to become this bad. I hope they can get renovated soon bc this course is a jewel.

Me and my buddy got this course for 30.99 as a hot deal and although it was a 50 minute drive from my house I had a blast. Some of the coolest tee boxes to greens I’ve seen and wasn’t very busy. A little sand on the greens especially towards the back 9 but overall very fun. Definitely would come again only downside is the traffic.

Absolutely beautiful. Love the layout, especially the elevations. Great clubhouse, brand new GPS carts.

Con’s

Some bare patch’s in fairways. Greens were basically sand and not acceptable.

The course is in great shape, especially after all the rain that we’ve had. Definitely going back soon.

Really liked the layout. Fun holes, great angles of attack—and numerous ways to line out your game. Fairways were pretty nice, greens are being worked out. Lots of bumpier everywhere on most greens—but still fun. Not the easiest to score low due to greens—but it’s seems they should be looking even better as April comes to a close into May.

The issue with Canyon West currently are the greens. They've apparently stripped and sanded the greens. They're not just an inconvenience, you can't putt on them. Most courses will advise you of this and/or offer a discount. I didn't get the memo after driving a considerable distance.

The course and atmosphere was beautiful! But the greens were in TERRIBLE shape. I do not know if it was just the time of year where they’re doing work on them but they were impossible to putt on. If the greens were in a somewhat normal shape, the course would be a 5/5 star course.

This course was top-notch a few years ago. It has gone downhill big time. The greens were more like a weedy pasture. The tee boxes were in sad shape as well. It's not worth the drive or money anymore!

My friend and I have played this course several times but not since back in December, but were very disappointed by what we found. The greens were just awful and some of the worst I've ever played on, as they were just covered in poa annua weeds, and I mean covered! The best of the greens maybe had 10-20% of them that actually resembled a golf green, and you couldn't even begin to know how to put on them. The balls would bounce all over, like they were in a pachinko machine, so there was no way to know where you would wind up, short, long, left, right? Even the practice putting green was awful, mostly just dead and also covered in poa annua, so you had an idea it was going to be a tough day if the rest of them were as bad, and they pretty much were. Add to this that we played behind four younger ladies that were slow as molasses, at times taking 25-30 minutes on a single hole, and the front nine took us over three hours to finish. Thankfully, they only played nine, but between them and the greens, it made what was a beautiful day, a very long one! We hope the warm weather kills off the poa annua, but for now, I wouldn't go here, unless you want a very frustrating day!

I played a couple weeks ago and the greens were terrible, hoped the rain and warmer temps would have helped, no such luck. No chance of a true roll at any distance.

With the Exception of the Greens condition the course was great. tee boxes, fairways always in good shape. the Green have been destroyed by poana. you couldn't make a put or read a break to save your life. Hopefully they will get them back in shape before to long.

The greens were some of the worst I’ve ever played.

I recently played Canyon West Golf course. Even though the conditions are a little off due the Poauna and early spring conditions. The course will be in great shape by late April. Finally they have an owner who is investing some money into the course and you can see the effort. It’s always been a great layout but previous ownership did not take care of the soil. They recently aerated the fairways which I don’t my think has ever been done. They have good sand in the bunkers and are manicured. This place is going to be a blast in a month or so. It’s cool to see someone taking care off f their investment. Great job.
