Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Coming around
The course has changed management since I played last so I decided to go back. It was in much better condition and you can tell it's coming around. There was still some damage areas on a few greens but overall a good condition. There are some fun holes but I hate 18. The tee box has to be one of the worst and strangest designs, I get blind shots but not a fan of this one.
Fun Nice course
really well maintained course nice bit of changes in holes i would def play here again
Excellent round at record pace
Great round at a great course in excellent condition at an awesome price. Completed the round in just over two hours (as a single, I did play through a few groups). All greens and tees in excellent condition. Love the course landscape and views.
Has always been a fantastic course
I have been playing Canyon West for many years, helped out as a marshal in trade for rounds. My wife and I were engaged on hole 5 when the waterfall used to work. The previous owner did not manage the course well, Now it has been given to the college, and I see improvement. Hope it continues to improve. The group of 5 kids in front of the 2 of us wouldn't let us play through, there needs to be a Marshall especially on the weekends.
Great course great layout
Great everything we go. Very accommodating fantastic layout. Greens are very fast and a few had some sand on them but overall everything was in great shape. I'd say 5 holes are very scenic with waterfalls and rock walls and elevated tee boxes. Staff always great. Pace was a bit slow but that's not the courses fault just the group ahead of us was taking their sweet time delayed us on more than a few holes. No Marshall or starters so you just start when your tee time starts. Pretty new golfer friendly as well. Mostly wide fairways but a few tight dog legs you can easily lose your ball completely over a hill on a few holes. Overall very good golf course that will continue to play until I can no longer play.
I feel ripped off
I was charged $52 to play today, when I asked for the senior rate I was told they raised the rates and that’s it. I go on golf now and rates range from $41 to $52 , senior rate is $41. I used to think these guys were stand up guys until today.
Cart Girl and greens
We saw the cart lady on 2nd hole and 10th hole. Sunday 12:15 tee time. Lot of lost money for the course. Not having the cart move faster or 2 of them.
Green were are and sand in spots. Some of the fairways over watered. Maybe more water for the greens and less in the fairway. Overall course is nice.
Still a Gem
Took my own cart and was ready to go on time. Greens are coming in nicely and staff is working hard to keep them. A pleasure to play here.
Excellent Course Conditions, Pace and value
We loved every bit of the course conditions, pace of play and value for the round. It was awesome.
Course was in the best shap i have seen it in. Greens still need a little help. They seem to be working on them as well.
Good Shape
I always enjoy playing at Canyon West, they try really hard to keep the course in good condition. Some of the greens are still recovering from the summer heat, but for the most part, they are still in better shape than a lot of courses in the DFW area. It is a beautiful place to play, and in about another few weeks to a month when those greens are fully restored, then wow!! what a great place it will be to play.. Also, Katie and the the lady in the restaurant were great and friendly, we enjoyed our time there too.
