Canyon West Golf and Sports Club

About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Putting a lot of work into the course. Looking greener than I’ve seen it in a long time
Good condition overall
Course knowledge helps here, but what a nice golf course. Good condition overall. One of my favorite golf courses in Texas!
Can’t beat
Bang for buck it’s hard to beat this course. They’ve done a great job fixing the course up after the previous management.
Greens are back
The greens are back! Hopefully they stay. Spring time had a lot of weeds. Glad it’s back to good form.
Excellent course and condition, excellent staff and excellent pace
Really smooth rolling greens with just a few rough spots. The pace was great, the staff friendly and helpful and the value was fantastic. Really great day.
Canyon West
Excellent golf course. Challenging but very playable. Staff was very friendly!! Wonderful views of the area!!!
Course in great shape
Everything was very green and soft which is unusual for early September in Texas. Greens held good, and rolled very true. Only took us about 3:45 to play 18 with no one pushing us and we were not pushing guys in front of us. 2 drink carts so we had plenty of chances to buy what we needed. The other guys I played with had never played here, but all 3 said they were adding it to their list.
Rain was the missing ingrediiant to aide the conditions
Great job with course recovery from last winters kill
Course is coming around from bad spring
Course still has some bare spots on the tees and fairways but is much better than early summer.
Relaxing round, great pace, great value
The course is coming around from poor spring but still a bit bare in the tees. Greens and fairways are pretty good. Pace of play and value was really great and the staff as always was very friendly and helpful.
Great Condition
The fairways are plush and well defined by two inch high rough. The greens had been aerated and sanded the day before but were in very good condition. It's a fun course to play.
Great laid back course
Fantastic course I've played here 3 or 4 times now and never had a bad experience. Very nice carts and course booklets. They used to have water coolers with bottles of water on every other hole but now it's just a water jug on 3 holes so bring your own refreshments.
Course is extremely beginner friendly for several reasons but mostly because it's not usually super busy. The fairways are not super tight and there's several holes that go right so if you slice no big deal. There's water on a few holes including a gorgeous waterfall on hole 3 or 4 I belive. There's also three holes that you tee off essentially looking over a cliff edge. If you normally play from the reds I'd say move back to the whites as they are actually a bit easier to hit from because of their position on a few holes. I personally alternated back and forth.
Overall it's a great course. Only negative that I can think of is the greens can be a little sandy some times and fairways can be try sometimes but it's pretty rare. They take pretty good care of the place and if you get a hot deal it's definitely worth the price!
Sticky Greens
The course tee and fairways are great, the staff was awesome, the greens not so good. The greens would hold a shot and then it was like putting a velcro covered ball on the second half of velcro. very sticky and extremely slow and very bumpy and not rolling true. enough said. I do like the course but until they can get the greens in better shape its not worth the money.
After 3
I wouldn’t book a tee time after 3pm cause they clear don’t care about those customers. The cart girl shut down at 320 for the day but told us and the groups behind us that that the club house would be open until 6pm. We made the turn at the club house at 520 and it was all shut down. No drinks no bathroom access. The staff told us they were told to shut down because the GM didn’t feel enough people booked after 3pm. The 3 guys I golf with now refuse to go back so they lost customers
Nice pace
All great
Recovery from kill last year pretty good! Awesome work!
Greens seem dry though
Great course none the less
Thank you
