About

Type Public
Par 72
Length 6653 yards
Slope 124
Rating 71.0

The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.

Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.

Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.

Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

What A Complete Dump!

This is by far the absolute worst golf course in North Texas... Even worse than the city of fort Worth's Pecan Valley River course.

When I say that Canyon West is a complete goat track dumpster fire of a golf course I'm being kind. The greens are pathetic to say the very least! There is absolutely zero grass on the greens and I mean literally nothing. The bunkers suck at an enormous level and the tee boxes look like nobody really gives a crap about anything at this place.

We teed off at 1:30 in the afternoon and went around the front nine only to find the snack bar was closed and the cart girls were unloading the carts... Mind you we played the front nine in 2 hours. Which means the idiots running this golf course decided to close up all the beverage services and snacks at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon... Go figure.

Whoever owns and operates this golf course should get out of the golf business! I will not ever come back!

Save your money this course is a 100% rip off!!!

This course is one of my favorites

This course is one of my favorites to play. my only complaint is that this off season the greens have been a little rough. But in the next 4-5 weeks they will be back up to the par I expect to see at Canyon West.

Terrible Greens

If you are good at PLINCO on The Price Is Right then this may be your course. For the money it’s terrible. Maybe a $30 round would be fair.

Greens need to come back

I love Canyon West. Unfortunately, the greens need to come back from dormancy. Awfully bumpy and hard to play this early in the spring. The rest of course is mostly all dormant as expected. Pace of play good, layout is great as always and staff is super friendly and helpful.

Hoping For Better Next Time

Want to say I had a great afternoon at Canyon West but it could have been much better. I have played probably 30 rounds on Golf Now and have never had to share a cart. Despite at least 30 carts lined up I was told to share a cart with someone who already had the cart and they said they didn’t know where he went. What was I supposed to do with my clubs?🤷🏼‍♂️ no reason to not give me a cart. Front nine we got behind a 5 some. Clearly not keeping pace and no karshalll or any mechanism to speed them up or let us play through. The layout was nice, lots of character but the greens were not in good shape lots of little weeds sticking up making for bumpy putts. Back nine a group was sent out to start on the back nine just as we made the turn, again poorly managed imo. I will be back once the grass turns green again but hopefully a better experience overall.

Nice day of golf while meeting new people

The course was good for still being dormant and dry. Tees and fairways as expected but greens are covered in poana grass sprigs which made putting very difficult and frustrating. I will probably wait a couple of months before going back.

Good condition for winter golf

The course was is good shape, fairways are holding up good during the dormant time of the year. The greens are in good condition, but most greens have poa anna growing in them.

The staff is always friendly.

Western Surprise

You can see some of this course from IH-20 and I thought it would be sort of a boring open plains type of golf course. I could not have been more wrong. This is a beautiful course with lots of fun hilltop shots, island greens, and well manicured sand. The ponds must be spring fed as they were all crystal clear. And the restaurant served a great burger at the end of the round. I would definitely recommend even if you are making the trip across town.

Great course

First time playing Canyon West. The course was in good condition but a couple of “sand spots” on the greens. Fairways in good condition and greens fast. Loved the elevated tee boxes on 8 & 9 but played with a front moving in with 30 mph winds and made the tee shots challenging. It’s a good course and I’ll play it again.
