Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Great day of Golf
Beautiful course and views. Very open fairways and greens roll true
Great course
A friend of mine played Canyon West yesterday for the first time and in spite of all the recent rains, the course was in great shape. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the weather was terrific, so overall we had a great time. The course is fairly open and forgiving but has some challenges with several dog legs and some small and interestingly shaped greens. Part of it's charm is that it is a very scenic course through some rolling hills, ponds (most of which don't come much into play, and with stonework and waterfalls around several greens. Even though it's a bit of drive to get to, it was worth it and we'll definitely go back.
What a Day!
It was a dreary rainy morning as we left home today. Out west the weather cleared the closer we got to the course.
My son and I arrived 15 minutes before our time and they told us we were up next. Though there was a 5 some in front of us the first 9, we still finished the whole round in 3 hours and 15 minutes. We had to wait only once or twice, and then for only a few minutes. The greens were a tad slow due to the morning dew but other than that they were in great shape. The bunkers are nice and I only caught one of them thank goodness. Stay out of the rough!!!
Great Value
A fun course with a few blind tee shots, nice the way they incorporated the natural terrain and vegetation into the course design, more vertical changes than you would think near Weatherford!
Finally getting green
Course is in the best shape it’s been in all year.. greens are in good shape.
Great day for golf
I enjoyed today’s golf round. It’s the first time I’ve played this course in 10 years and it was as great as it was then. A great course and a fine day of golf.
I hate to give it a good review?
You know I hate to give this course a good review because then it'll get out how great it is of a hidden gem. Nothing to knock yesterday, it was "All Good!"
Nice layout
Really nice course. Greens are getting better. Fairways really hard. Hope we get the predicted rain. Good value
Good course, fun to play
Always enjoy playing course. Very good burgers. Staff friendly & course is well-maintained. It’s worth the drive from Fort Worth.
Super course
Greens are great. Views are awesome. You will not be disappointed.
Greens
Cuttings left on greens. On back 9 they got around to ‘raking” cuttings which left roughed up surface. Greens have been issue here at least 2 of last 3 times played. Do not expect a return soon.
Canyon West - Weatherford, TX.
Course is in good condition for summer in Texas (today it was 104• when I finished), but with a breeze & a lot of water, it was ok. Had a cheeseburger at the turn & it was good, but the double burger was more than I could eat. The burger & coke only cost $8.00 + tip. I do recommend this course for intermediate skill golfers.
Purse is just fun to play.
Only problems I encountered, were the greens have recently been sanded & several holes were roped off from tee to green. In many cases a well-placed shot resulted in a pretty long trek from cart to ball and back again. With Texas heat this time of year, not only is this tiring; it could be dangerous to have older golfers (like me, I’m 74) walking that for in the heat. Often it is over 100 degrees when I play! I stay hydrated but many other golfers don’t.
Canyon West
Course in great shape. Greens rolling true and very receptive. Friendly staff and good value golf.
