Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

It's Worth the Drive
Canyon West has a wide variety of holes - downhill with the wind, uphill against the wind, flat over water...and even a big tree in the middle of the fairway.
I found the course conditions quite good as long as you keep it in the fairway.
Greens are in great shape and will only run smoother as the season gets warmer.
It's a very pleasant round out there - and oh so quiet.
Canyon West
You will be back, nice course, I play here every chance I get.
Canyon West Golf
Winter golf in Texas is what it is.The hard lies and bumpy greens is just the way it is in Texas. Were just lucky we have warm enough weather we can play many days in the winter. We always look forward to the Spring and Summer for the plush fairways and smooth rolling greens.Canyon West golf club is one of the best in the Metroplex.
Canyon review
really good course for wide open spaces and great views. back is tighter than the front but that is the charm of this place.
Front of greens
The is in good shape for time of year, but don’t try to hit short of the greens and bounce on they are a little soft short of the greens.
CW Sunday Dec 17th
The course is in great shape for this time of year. The staff is always pleasant and friendly. I would recommend playing this course to all types of golfers.
Improvements
Looks like a lot of work going on to improve playing conditions.
Canyon West
The fairways have the grass cut so short that you are hitting off the clay on about 85 percent of the holes. If not for the fairways this would be a 5 Star course.
Great bargain for great price
We played on a Monday morning at 11:00. I got a great deal on Golf Now. It was not crowded and the course is in great shape. A good course for all golfers.
A Good Time!
This course is always fun and is worth the short trip out west of Fort Worth to play there.
The conditions were good and the greens well maintained. (Study your putt!)
great day
had a great day at Canyon West ! Started out a little cold , but as the clouds burned off it was perfect. The greens were in great shape, fairways were pretty good for November.
The course offers a lot of challenges
This golf course is good for any level of player and provides challenges for the more experienced golfers. The tee boxes greens and holes are always in great shape. I would like to see more discounts for tee times. Canyon West is not close to where I live but I would play it more if had more discounted tee times.
This fairways on this course are awful
The fairways on this course are awful. You are always hitting off of bare ground. The fairways are cut so short that it makes playing awful
Slowest weekday round in history
Made a special trip to play this course on my birthday. Beautiful views, lots of blind shots, good price, course condition overall good but fairways dry but likely due to hilly rocky terrain not lack of maintenance. Staff friendly maybe to much so. One group teed off ahead of me but while parking cart a respectful difference a man and woman went to tee box ahead of me and a young guy camped on the back pro tee box. Come to find out both of these groups if you will were practices and replays who had been told by clubhouse it was fine to keep playing despite the fact I had tee time. Suspect these were " members" who think they have free run of the golf course despite the fact they need us public players to even have a golf course. This made for the slowest round of golf I have ever played on a weekday in my entire golfing life. Add to that the slip on locals that added more congestion by starting on number 10 in between the aforementioned groups and you get the picture. Add in the number of blind shots requiring you to allow time for groups to clear and you van see this course with truly great potential needs hard nose starters and active on course marshalls.
