Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Great bargain for great price
We played on a Monday morning at 11:00. I got a great deal on Golf Now. It was not crowded and the course is in great shape. A good course for all golfers.
A Good Time!
This course is always fun and is worth the short trip out west of Fort Worth to play there.
The conditions were good and the greens well maintained. (Study your putt!)
great day
had a great day at Canyon West ! Started out a little cold , but as the clouds burned off it was perfect. The greens were in great shape, fairways were pretty good for November.
The course offers a lot of challenges
This golf course is good for any level of player and provides challenges for the more experienced golfers. The tee boxes greens and holes are always in great shape. I would like to see more discounts for tee times. Canyon West is not close to where I live but I would play it more if had more discounted tee times.
This fairways on this course are awful
The fairways on this course are awful. You are always hitting off of bare ground. The fairways are cut so short that it makes playing awful
Slowest weekday round in history
Made a special trip to play this course on my birthday. Beautiful views, lots of blind shots, good price, course condition overall good but fairways dry but likely due to hilly rocky terrain not lack of maintenance. Staff friendly maybe to much so. One group teed off ahead of me but while parking cart a respectful difference a man and woman went to tee box ahead of me and a young guy camped on the back pro tee box. Come to find out both of these groups if you will were practices and replays who had been told by clubhouse it was fine to keep playing despite the fact I had tee time. Suspect these were " members" who think they have free run of the golf course despite the fact they need us public players to even have a golf course. This made for the slowest round of golf I have ever played on a weekday in my entire golfing life. Add to that the slip on locals that added more congestion by starting on number 10 in between the aforementioned groups and you get the picture. Add in the number of blind shots requiring you to allow time for groups to clear and you van see this course with truly great potential needs hard nose starters and active on course marshalls.
Pace, again, somewhat slow (crowded)
Second time at what we (wife & I) consider to be an excellent golf course in past two weeks. Once again, pace was the major point of contention. We followed a man/woman-twosome, who were behind a single, who was behind a three-some, who were behind another couple/twosome. Then we were approached (12th tee) by a single in a cart who expected to get an invitation to join any of those noted herein (and complained to the couple ahead of us when they did not ask him to join them again, on the 12th tee!! Course in excellent shape except for tee boxes - which were mowed on the entire course??
Fun Round.
The course was laid out well. It wasn’t very difficult. It could be maintained better, but overall it was a fun round! The clubhouse it very nice. The food is good, but the beer prices are outrageous.
Canyon West - Terrific
Awesome course, panaramic views, good fairways and greens. Burmuba rough and water areas provide suffuent challanges and elevation changes are unmatched in this area. Greens fully recovered and roll well. If you havent played this course you are missing a great time.
Canyon West Golf - Weatherford, Texas
Overall, a great experience. We'd (wife and I) played there several times and liked the somewhat 'hilly' and exceptional views from virtually every hole. The only 'real' problem we had was that the course was holding a tourney that day and, supposedly, that group of players had teed off well in advance of us. We spent the last 6 holes behind two groups ahead, playing a scramble format. It seemed to take FAR too much time to get through 18 holes. Anyone wanting to play there, be sure to call when making tee time and ask about any events that may impact your play / start time.
Course
First time playing this course. Was extremely pleased with how it was laid out, the condition of the course and just how beautiful it was. Will definitely place this course on my top five courses to play.
It’s all good
Been several times in tournaments and just to play with no complaints.
Wonderful course
With the recent improvements in the condition of the greens the course is really coming around. It's in very good condition and it's a wonderful value for the cost.
Nice Course
Early spring / summer left much to be desired from this course - specifically the greens. The staff has done a LOT of work to get the course back to where it normally is. I am pleased that the greens are in good shape and the course is in overall good condition. I'd have no problem going back to the course and absolutely recommend it to anyone interested in a good deal on a nice course.
