Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Worth the drive
well worth the drive from Ft. Worth. I didn't think the course played too difficult. Most holes are pretty straight. But a few are broken leg left or right.
The tees are a little small for my liking. The fairways are wide to my liking. Greens and fairways were in great condition.
The scenery is really nice too. Water flows in the creek hazzards and there are a few waterfall and rock featurs on the course.
I ended on 18 with a pace off 42' putt. that felt good!
Overall I think anyone would be happy to play a round of golf here. I will be back.
Course is good
I’m a regular at Canyon West and enjoy playing this course. Fairways were as green as I’ve ever seen them. Greens are recovering from being punched with a few bouncy putts. Nice day with few people out due to the hot weather. Pro Shop is always courteous and helpful. Thanks Guys!!
Almost a great round
Let me start off by saying the pace of place was going great, until we get around to 14 and notice a cart with an older gentleman and 2 kids in it cut in front of us and start playing. Here is the kicker. I call the club house to get a marshal out and am told “ Yeah we know him. He lives on hole 15 and plays a few holes from time to time. Just go around and come back and play that hole later”. As a paying patron of the course I am let’s just say unhappy. Course puts home owner in front of paying customers not a great policy.
Great Course, Will Definitely be Back
The greens had just been aerated but were in really great shape. Fairways and Tee Boxes were taken care of nicely.
I did have a problem with the groups behind us. We were playing a scramble so we were moving really fast but the group behind us wasn't finishing putts and were pressing us to move faster. They would tee off as we were hitting our second shots and they're balls would come right by us. I told the marshal about it twice and he told us it was our fault for not speeding up. We were 20min ahead of the scheduled pace! Other than having to deal with that group of 4 pressing us and trying to hurry us along there were no other complaints about this course.
Great day, no crowd, perfect wether and conditions.
Great day, no crowd, perfect weather and conditions. Also got a great value. Perfect.
Course is in great shape but the greens had recently bee aireated and sanded, other than that is was a grest day on tge course
Greens/sandy
No tee markers were out. Greens are sandy and people need to know. Front nine was roped off on about 7 holes.
Fun course
Canyon West is one of my favorites. Course was in good shape a little dry. Greens were good. Pace of play was good. Always accommodating and worth the drive to Weatherford. I’ll be back!!
Greens and fairways
The greens had just been aerified and the fairways had a lot of weeds and were roped off so had to do more walking. Wish they had stated this at time of reservation. I’m sure it will be much better in a few weeks.
Canyon West
Course is well maintained. They had just aerated & sanded the greens; so putting was very difficult. Course has some challenging holes,m & is pretty much wide open. However; it is rather expensive, an American beer was

Excellent course, great value for your money. Go play it!!!
Great course and awesome staff
Course is well kept, fun to play, and challenging at the same time. The views are beautuful while playing and from the clubhouse. The carts have computers on then to keep score, and let you know the layout and distance to the holes. You can also contact the staff from the computer. The staff are very friendly. It's a very enjoyable golf experience.
Improvements bringing back great course!
I enjoyed our round of golf for the first time in a while at this course! The ownership seems to have made the changes necessary to bring this course back to life! It has always been one of my favorite layouts and continues to provide a fun yet challenging round! Great job, great course!
This course is half like a links style course and the other half is more wooded and less open so you get a great variety of golf.
Love to play this course but it can beat you up if it's windy. The courses layout is very nice and lots of beautiful views thruout the course.Cant wait to play it again.
Improved again
The course keeps getting better. The work around 12 green and 13 tee box adds to the overall experience even tough the work doesn’t change the playability. Impressed with the new hole markers on the tee boxes as well. Glad they continue to improve!
It's Worth the Drive
Canyon West has a wide variety of holes - downhill with the wind, uphill against the wind, flat over water...and even a big tree in the middle of the fairway.
I found the course conditions quite good as long as you keep it in the fairway.
Greens are in great shape and will only run smoother as the season gets warmer.
It's a very pleasant round out there - and oh so quiet.
