Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Absolutely amazing course!
This was my first time playing here. We played in the middle of the day so it was extremely hot but that made the pace of play perfect as we didn't have to wait one time for players ahead of us.
The elevation changes throughout the course are very unique to this area. It makes this course one of the most fun I have ever played. Somehow, with the summer heat, the greens looks pristine. This course is fairly wide open and forgiving. Stay in the fairway and you'll be able to take advantage of some short par 4s.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I'm not sure I have ever seen a better clubhouse cafe before. I will definitely be coming back very soon.
Beautiful Course
What a beautiful, picturesque course. It was great views with some of the elevated tee boxes. Half the greens were recovering but it was manageable and only affected a few strokes. I will be back to play this course in the very near future.
Punched greens
Great course - I booked online and wish the app would say the greens were punched and sanded and burned up from the late freeze.. the layout is very nice just wished the greens were in tip top shape- staff was friendly and had a good time regardless of the greens - love the new carts and iPads on them for distance and flyovers of the hole ..
A Wonderful Round of Golg
I really enjoyed this course. A really nice layout in a wonderful golf course community just outside Weatherford. The greens were slightly sub-par, like most in the area this spring. I believe this is a product of the mild winter combined with the late frost. Watch out for the 13th. It is a par four with water on the right that is visible. There is also water on the left that is not visible from the tee, and snakes across most of the fairway in front of the green. It is rated as the number two handicap hole, but I would rate it as the most difficult hole on the course. A great challenge and I look forward to playing it again soon
The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating. Overall a very enjoyable day, and well worth the drive!
Greens were terrible
Played this course many times. If you call in they say the greens are fine just top dressed. When you get out on the course the greens are like the sand traps with huge hunks of grass in the way. The ball skips all over the place. Then golf now won't give you a refund even though two people picked up and wouldn't finish the round because the course says the greens are fine. Don't use golf now to play this course or you will be stuck putting in the sand.
Canyon West GEM
This course has a great lay out. I will be back to play this again. The 3 star rating for course condition is all about mother nature. The greens where still some what dormant. I believe in 3 weeks or so these greens will be awesome. The yardage on the score card make you think this should be a breeze. Not the case here the dog legs left and right make this gem play much longer. Pay close attention to the creek that meanders through out the course they will affect the putts in that direction. Accolades to the staff for a great day of golf!
First time here
The course was very nice and challenging for the first time. I'm sure improvement would be attainable fairly easy. Fairways are pretty tight, dog legs are very tight. All par 5's are reachable in 2. Many par 4's are reachable with a 300+ drive. I finished with 10 pars and an 80. Looking forward to going back and dive into the 70's. Greens are still in transition from winter. But should be perfect in next 2-3 weeks.
I highly recommend the course. It's beautiful and the houses lining the course are amazing.
Not your average layout
Great course for all handicaps. Beautiful layout with multiple changes in topography hill country like
Play this course. You will not be disappointed!
First time player at this course and I have to say, I was a little torn on how to write this review. On one hand, the overall setting and landscape of the couse was absolutely enjoyable. The layout was challenging, yet forgiving at the same time.If that even makes sense. Lacking course knowledge prevented me from taking many chances, with that said I was really wanting to follow my round with another 18. My only complaint was the conditions of the course. A couple of the greens were really rough, crab grasses and such were an issue. Other than that I enjoyed it and look forward to putting up some good scores in the future.
Fun & Sometimes Challenging Course
The course was fun, but at times very challenging. The course was in great shape for this time of year. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Would definitely play this course again.
No title
Canyon West is One of the ten places I play. Not listing all ten, but I drive from North Richland Hills to here play a round of golf.
Always a fun day at Canyon West
We have played this course several times even though it is outside our normal playing area in DFW. Course layout, staff and value keep us coming back for more. Several "signature" holes to play here! We will be back!
Very nice
Everyone was helpful and very friendly. The course layout made it easy for a first time experience.
