Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Nice Course
Early spring / summer left much to be desired from this course - specifically the greens. The staff has done a LOT of work to get the course back to where it normally is. I am pleased that the greens are in good shape and the course is in overall good condition. I'd have no problem going back to the course and absolutely recommend it to anyone interested in a good deal on a nice course.
Like the layout
Enjoyed the round here. Like the layout. Greens in good shape; putts roll true. There were only a few bad spots on the greens here and there, and the pins were placed such that these were largely out of the way. Like the natural and landscaped scenery of the course. Got a good deal via Golf Now, so well worth the cost. Good pace of play. Variety of shot selections. Only 2 blind shot holes that I remember. Definitely recommend and will be back.
Home course
Great golf course. Greens are in great shape now as they have recovered from the transplanted green turf from the weird winter/spring.
I play Winstar as well and they had the same problem with the greens this year as Canyon West. Both have recovered incredibly due to the amount of rain.
New carts with great GPS screens make for a fun day at a course where your pace of play is quick.
Try it, you'll like it!
Wet around greens
Raine in the morning so was cart path only. Also leaking around the greens from the sprinklers. But for that the course was in good shape.
good layout
there are some fun and interesting holes here. Challenging yet fair. I come from a golf background several "careers" ago....built two courses. I like the routing here...very fun to play.
Absolutely amazing course!
This was my first time playing here. We played in the middle of the day so it was extremely hot but that made the pace of play perfect as we didn't have to wait one time for players ahead of us.
The elevation changes throughout the course are very unique to this area. It makes this course one of the most fun I have ever played. Somehow, with the summer heat, the greens looks pristine. This course is fairly wide open and forgiving. Stay in the fairway and you'll be able to take advantage of some short par 4s.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I'm not sure I have ever seen a better clubhouse cafe before. I will definitely be coming back very soon.
Beautiful Course
What a beautiful, picturesque course. It was great views with some of the elevated tee boxes. Half the greens were recovering but it was manageable and only affected a few strokes. I will be back to play this course in the very near future.
Punched greens
Great course - I booked online and wish the app would say the greens were punched and sanded and burned up from the late freeze.. the layout is very nice just wished the greens were in tip top shape- staff was friendly and had a good time regardless of the greens - love the new carts and iPads on them for distance and flyovers of the hole ..
A Wonderful Round of Golg
I really enjoyed this course. A really nice layout in a wonderful golf course community just outside Weatherford. The greens were slightly sub-par, like most in the area this spring. I believe this is a product of the mild winter combined with the late frost. Watch out for the 13th. It is a par four with water on the right that is visible. There is also water on the left that is not visible from the tee, and snakes across most of the fairway in front of the green. It is rated as the number two handicap hole, but I would rate it as the most difficult hole on the course. A great challenge and I look forward to playing it again soon
The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating. Overall a very enjoyable day, and well worth the drive!
