Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Fun course with a lot of elevation changes.
I have played this course 3 times in the last 30 days. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite courses. The only negative is the sand traps are dirt and not sand.
What a course
I play this course a lot as it is my home course. No matter what time of year I go out there, the course is in great shape. Fairways are very will kept. Greens tend to play medium to slow but are always pristine. Bunkers are maintained. you will never see one with standing water. The views from this course are awesome. The course has a western theme and the most of all, the back 9 plays tougher than the front 9. I highly, Highly recommend this course. Its a great round for a great price.
Course in greatshape
Beautiful views, nice course, challenging but not impossible for weekend golfers
Old West Theme
Great deal, fun course with an old west theme, I'd highly recommend it...

Great course. Greens are in great shape.
I really like the lay out of the course. The back nine is different from the front and I like that change. The front nine is more open and you can get warmed up. The fairways are in great shape along with the greens.
course is average to good and a nice place to hone your game
with a change of ownership this year, this course will improve over time and is in the process of doing so...
A great course to play in weatherford Texas.
Great value for your golf money.Once you play this course ,you will be back.
Great course for beginners or experienced golfers.
I like the course at canyon west golf club. The course is well taken care of and the staff is always friendly/courteous/generous to me and guests I'm with everytime I have been to visit. I like the fact that they have coolers on the golf cart for drinks and ice. The only thing they need now is a cart and someone to bring drinks to people on the course. Every course I have been to has a food drink cart that comes and sees if you want any refreshments. That's my only suggestion, is they get a cart for refreshments that go to people on the course.
Very soft greens and awesome view
The course is short but challenging. Best pro shop and awesome overall view
Absolutely beautiful golf course!
I was so surprised at the quality of the course based on what I paid in my green fee. The course is super well maintained, the fairways are almost all perfect. Number 10 had a few bare spots visible from the tee but didn't really affect the play of he hole. The course has some elevation changes and a nice variety of holes. Number 5 is a very pretty hole whose green sits next to a very nice waterfall.
The course is not excessively long; 6,653 from the back tees and 6,236 from the Blue tees I played. The greens are challenging without being impossible but you do have to make good putts. Some of the approach shots are to elevated greens which makes the shot a little more difficult. I did not encounter a single shot that I thought was unfair or too difficult for average golfers.
I was amazed that there were as few golfers on the course as there were. I suspect that when the temperatures get a little cooler, this course will be inundated with play. Unfortunately, I also think that as they build more of the gigantic homes I saw on the course, the course will be privatized and we mortals will be denied access. Better take advantage of the current access and play now while you can.
While it did take 5 hours to play, it was mostly a result of the three high handicappers I played with. One of them was struggling to break 100 and giving his two friends lessons all around the course. Funny. I shot a very nice legitimate 78.
I am from Houston and was visiting my in-laws in Granbury but I plan on playing again the next time I return which will be either Thanksgiving or Christmas. Absolutely a beautiful, fun, reasonably priced course to play.
Nice views, but the actual course was nothing special.
Greens were very hard and were very fast. Never had to repair a single ball mark due to the hardness of the greens.
Staff was very distant. Had to prod the lady when I checked in to find out anything. She might have said two words to me. Had it not been for another golfer who was just sitting in the Pro Shop, not sure I would have found out anything about the course or how to get information. Nice facility with great views of the country side but not worth the drive to play again.
Excellent value at any level
Course setup is challenging for any player level. Varying elevations and plenty of hazards yet generally open enough for the beginner.
Great layout and scenery
could not give 5 stars the greens had been sanded but putted good and held shots.Staff was friendly and we really enjoyed our round there and plan to go back and take some more friends. The wife really enjoyed playing here
Very fun course
Had a great golf experience at canyon west golf course. The course was themed with old western wagons, cactus, etc. all over and lots of elevated tee boxes. It's a very fun course I would recommend this course to every one.
The couse has some great features
This course is well maintain fairway to green. There are many changes in elevation and the greens are great for holding your line on putts.
Well kept secret!
Great views and wonderful elevations. Staff very friendly and course challenging enough to justify the drive from Fort Worth. While the fairways are wide open, it does require good club selection to score well.
Loving Canyon West
The course has a great lay-out, and has some challenging holes, but you can score if you can stay in the fairways. The staff was nice and friendly. It is great for the money.
Good Time in Texas
Visiting family in Texas afforded us to play this course. Great Course, Great Time!
Extremely good value.
Love the elevation changes, and the moguls. Driving into the place made me think that there had been a mistake. I still can't believe that it's not a private club.
Beautiful
Great course. Beautiful views and great customer service in pro shop and grill
