Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
About
The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.
Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.
Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.
Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Review title
The course was a wonderful course and it was a pleasure to play.
will fit any level of golfer and the views and surrounding are very very nice
continually improving the course, staff in club house, resturant and on the course are very professional and extremely courtious!Have played the course probably 15 to 20 times and have never had anything but very good experiences!
Nice layout, great pace of play
We typically play around noon and we usually get a round in about 3-1/2 hours. Course has a good mix of moderate & difficult holes. Greens were in the best shape we've seen on this course. Not a good course to play if it's windy in the winter, but a nice place to play on a warm/summer day. I believe they have new carts and these carts are equipped with a GPS, however it's mounted on the driver's side. So if you have a playing partner it's difficult to check out the yardages. Overall a great place to play.
Canyon West
Had a great time. Would definitely come back. Condition was very good. Great views
Worth the drive from D/FW
It's an hour west of Arlington beyond the I-20/I-30 merge but is worth the trip from D/FW. Played a round in 3 hours by myself today as there seemed to be only about 6 other groups out there. Course was in overall great condition considering it's August and we're in the middle of a terrible drought. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in great condition (aside from a few over-watered spots here and there). I would characterize the greens as a little slow, but consistent.
The course has a ton of elevation changes (reminds me of the Hill Country around Austin) and they lend to some very attractive holes. There are several rocky and "rustic" features around the course that give it an old Western feel and some character. Nice "Outhouses" and "Watering Holes" throughout the course and the carts have small coolers on them.
I will definitely make the drive out here again to play.
sand on the greens
greens need 3 /4 weeks to grow in. played ok I shot a 86 had 2 -3 putts like the course a lot will come back soon!
Beautiful course!! Worth the trip from anywhere
Great day of golf in an amazing course. Beautiful layout and well taken care if.
Good time
Only slight criticism was a few greens were choppy because of the way they were mowed. Mower/operator problem??
Scenic views
Nice track indeed. Scenic hill top course. Great friendly staff from the greens keeping crew to the pro shop and restaurant crew. AAAAA++++
This course has the right amount of fun with a challenge
I had the best time playing here yesterday! Beautiful layout!
sweet retreat
fairways r the best i have seenon a municiple coarse
overall a must see coarse very seenic a grate place for a 10 hdc. to improve your game.well worth the 30 min.from ft. worth.
Great Course For Great Value
The course was playing a bit more difficult than normal, because the wind was pretty high at around 20 MPH out of the S SW. Tee boxes and fairways were cut close and clean. My only real complaint would be that the greens needed to be mowed. The grass just seemed to be a bit high on them, thus the putts were slower than I'm used to. Other than that, it was a Great Course For Great Value!!!
This course is challenging to the middle and high handicapper.
I enjoy playing this course even though the wind is always a factor. Its just more challenging trying to predict the effect of the wind. The last time I played it was June 27,2014 and the wind was gusting up to 40MPH.My thanks and appreciation go out to Mr.Richard Stuart the new owner for the improvements and the re-conditioning of the facility.I plan on playing here more often.
Enjoyed the experience a lot
Rain had required cart paths only.
Yet - friendly staff and overall course conditions made the round a lot of fun. We got very wet in 18th fairway from a sudden t-storm, but we're all looking forward to returning for a dry round of golf.
Great Time!
My son and I drove an hour to play this course and it was well worth the trip. The course was in great shape, the staff were all super friendly and the hot dog, chips and drink at the turn was perfect. We will definitely be back.
Canyon West
Worth the drive. Considering the drought, course was in good shape and a lot of fun to play. Enjoyed trying ot figure the wind and elavation changes in shots.
