The scenic ranchlands west of Fort Worth are full of rugged canyons, native wildflowers, and impressive elevation changes, all of which are incorporated into Canyon West’s design. Located atop Parker County’s highest summit, this 1997 18-holer incorporates all of those North Texas Hill Country features and more into its design. Waterfalls, miles of streams, exposed rocks, prairie grasses, wildflowers, and loads of oak, pecan, elm, and mesquite trees highlight the landscape.

Elevated tees offer views of the countryside. In addition to the scenery, golfers are welcomed by generous fairways that make this a fairly user-friendly course, especially given its reasonable yardage of 6,653 from the tips and the fact that water comes into play on only about half of the holes.

Other notes: During the week, the course offers seniors a two-for-one green fee. Walking is not allowed.

Getting there : From Ft. Worth, go west on I-20 and take exit 403. Cross left over the freeway and then make a quick right onto the service road. The entrance is 2.5 miles down the road.

Great deal, nice course

This was my first time to play this course. For $32 got 18 holes with cart and hotdog/chips/drink on a Saturday! Nice open course, not overcrowded by houses. Greens need some work but overall enjoyed this course. Nice views, interesting elevation changes with some elevated tee boxes. Overall I enjoyed this course and will play there again soon.

Course is a very nice change from other area courses.

Course has interesting elevation changes, challenging greens that are firm and fast and favors shot-maker over long hitter.
It incorporates more terrain changes than any other daily fee course that I have played in the DFW area.

Stunning!!

I haven't played canyon west since 2006 so I got a great price to play it again this past Sunday and I jumped at the chance!! The weather was perfect but it was still very windy but it always will be! The course was beautiful!! The scenic tee boxes and the landscaping and waterfalls were absolutely stunning and beautiful!! This was the first time for my friend to play this course and he loved it!!! totally was in awe of course loved everything about it. We even liked the free lunch we got on the deal with golf now!! The only problem we saw was no Marshall!!!! well there could be one there but we never saw one. We started the front nine no problem 1 hr and a Half stopped for our free lunch the twosome behind us came in to get lunch and was last day of masters so we ate and got back out there and I noticed 2 4somes jumped ahead of us and play came stretching to a halt!! Took us 3 hrs to play back nine!! And never once did we see a Marshall we asked beer cart girl if she could get Marshall to get this course moving and she even said she wasn't sure who was working today? I recommend this course to anybody who loves to golf it is fun to play very challenging to play and the course was in great shape we did notice number 16 17 holes were a little dry but some more rain will soften them up soon enough make sure you play this course before draught hits late summer I did hear there is a new owner maybe they will keep the course watered and hire a Marshall!!! for someone like me who drove over an hr to get there and an hr back almost 5 hrs to play course, that is a long day!! Hopefully they can fix that or else canyon west will be a once a year course for me!!

Fun layout!

This course has a fun layout with challenging dog legs. The view is great with waterfalls and nice western look. The down fall to this course is the fairways. There a little rough with a lot of weeds. The course was still fun and wouldn't mind going back.

Worth the drive

I went during a windy day (wind gusts up to 30 mph) and still enjoyed this course. Course was green through out and greens were well taken care of. Fairways weren't hard and nice to hit the ball off of. Would love to come back on a day when wind gusts won't be so high. I still expect this course to have some wind, but no where near as windy I'm sure. This course is worth the drive and I will be visiting again. I've paid more for courses that weren't as well kept. Great value in my opinion.

Nice fun couse has a new owner

I played the course yesterday, 3/20/13 and found it very dry. I know it's early in the season, but the course needs some attention. They have a new owner, so let's see if he can get this course into shape. It would be nice if they had some ball washers at the tee boxes. This is a bit of a drive from Fort Worth, but usually you can complete a round in 3.5 hours. Hopefully, conditions will improve.

Wind is a constant here

The course is in good shape for being late winter. Have played this course 4 or 5 times and it's always windy here. But it sits atop a good sized hill and its wide open, so it's what you would have to expect in Texas.

Awesome greens

The greens are rolled incredibly smooth. Fairways are hard as a rock due to no rain.
