Fantastic value course with stunning views!
This place is an absolute hidden gem, and one of my favourite golf courses I've ever played! Amazing condition for an April round with pure tee boxes, fairways and greens. Quirky course with a good variety of holes and sensational views of the ocean and hilly landscape. Wish I lived closer to I could play it more! You need decent fitness to walk this course as it is quite hilly, but I'd highly recommend so you can take it all in. Friendly bar staff and pro shop with great food and a nice outside patio.
A great course
Wow stunning landscapes all around , plus fantastic greens with a great vourse
Non golfers
Seaford is always a go to course when me and a friend are looking to play somewhere different.
Great clubhouse and the course in good condition as usual.
Only downside this time a 3 ball in front who should have been playing crazy golf.
Taking air shots on every tee and no idea about etiquette.
Seaford Blatchington
We played the course on February 28th. The course drainage is clearly excellent, it being over chalk. The fairways provided good grass coverage and support so there were no 'bare' lies, which helps if one is not a single figure handicap golfer. There were some areas of GUR where bunker maintenance was been undertaken and restricted trolley access around many of the greens which can be a bit of a pain but I suppose such measures are necessary if the greens and surrounds are to be protected during the winter period. The greens themselves were in pretty good nick - a few bobbles here and there but considering the time of year pretty much as good as one could hope for.
The course is quite long. My handicap is 13.6. A lot of the par 4 holes were difficult to reach in two but the WHS slope index recognises this, so one gets a few more shots. If you are looking for a course to post your lowest ever score then look elsewhere but on the other hand I didn't lose any balls nor did I blob any holes. I really enjoyed the course - the views are magnificent and the staff were most helpful.
There is a really usable chipping practise area (with a partially elevated green) where I would be for an hour every day if I were to join the club. There is also a large driving range where one can play directly off the grass if one wishes. Visitors may use these facilities.
My only criticism would be that the signage between holes was a bit wanting at a few locations - there were a couple of times where we ended up going round in circles to find the next tee but otherwise I would very much recommend this course to all except beginners, who would probably struggle to maintain pace of play.
Well kept and very playable
Fabulous condition (again). This is a lovely place to be when the wind isn't blowing too hard. You need to strike the ball really well when the wind gets up. At something like 6400 yards, it doesn't seem long, until you realise there is only one par five. There are some very challenging par fours.
The greens are always superb here, varying between fairly fast and very fast depending on when you visit. I've never known them to be slow.
The staff are all friendly and helpful. Our buggy was clearly underperforming as we approached the top of the first fairway. One phone call later and we had a new buggy brought out to us in less than 2 minutes.
They serve Harveys too. What are you waiting for?
Superb course
Great course which was in brilliant condition considering the downpour in the morning. Staff in the pro shop were really nice and helpful. Great practice facilities also. Can’t fault the place. Also some unbelievable views. Will definitely play again.
Superb course
The course was in great condition and provided a variety of challenges and interesting holes. Fantastic venue with practise facilities available and a friendly bar with a good choice of food and well kept beer.
Excellent Conditions Considering
Considering most courses are closed or have trolley restrictions due to prolonged, recent rain, Seaford was in excellent condition. All holes and greens in play, no casual water or mud, just a little damp underfoot. Quite amazing considering I'd had to drive through flood water a few miles from the course. The one disappointment was the mist, which obscured the beautiful views of the South Downs and the Sussex coast for much of my round, though that of course is no fault of the club.
Seaford on a sunny afternoon
Apart from the rebuilt bunkers they were all in play this time, and for the time of year the course was in excellent condition.
Have been three times now and always had a friendly welcome in pro shop, bar and from members.
Seaford on a chilly day
Apart from the bunkers being g.u.r. the course was in excellent condition and we could use trollies!
Pace of play superb
We received a very Friendly welcome from pro shop and bar staff.
Most enjoyable day!
Great course
Course in great condition greens excellent all round great club
Lovely and relaxing
My son and I had a great day.
Pro shop very helpful and lunch and Harvey's made for a perfect pre game refreshment.
Practice facilities very good.
The course was very well presented and the greens great.
Location on the Sussex downs with views of the sea and surrounding downland is the icing on this delicious offering.
Thankyou to everyone at the club.
Peter and Simon.
Great views and some challenging par 3's
Overall a great day out. I was by myself and had never played the course before and a couple of members who were waiting to tee off invited me to play with them as their 3rd didn't show. They told me where to hit to and places to avoid which is what it's all about. Afterwards we drank a beer in the clubhouse and had some banter plus they invited me to play with them again. Very friendly and polite group of people.
Excellent experience
My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised at the layout, views and enjoyability of this course. We played it two days after the hottest day on record in England, so not surprisingly, the fairways were very brown and dry. Nonetheless, it was very playable. The layout was great. Superb views, no houses along the course and no traffic noises. The best feature of the course were the greens. Given the time of the year and the recent weather conditions, the greens were in excellent shape, deep green in colour with no burnt areas, receptive to short to mid-iron approaches, were both smooth and fast. How the superintendent kept them from browning out was a display of talent at his or her job.
Overall, a great experience and I’d play there again.
A word of caution, though. When deciding on what tee markers to play from, have a good look at both the yardage as well as the par to ensure your choice matches your ability. I chose the tees that were listed at 6500 yards, but later noted that it was only a par 69! (Only 1 par 5). I had 10 par 4s over 395 and 7 over 410!
