Fantastic views and very Hilly
We really enjoyed our game here this week. The course is very well maintained and has some wonderful views. It is very hilly and there are some longish walks between tees. Additionally you need to gear in mind that the 150 yard markers do not take into account the elevation of the green so an additional club needs to be used on some of the holes. Looking forward to my next round!
Terrible condition
It has been a dry summer and clearly difficult to keep the condition of the ourse to a top level.
The tees were awful ( i can live with that) the fairways had preferred lies and needed it as they were poor and the greeens were very average to be kind.
For this we were charged £37-50. which in my opinion was a rip off.
I have played at Lewes many times usually it is in good condition. Conditions are tough but the green fees should reflect the course condition and they didnt
Lewes GC
Played this for the 2nd time in a few weeks. This time there was a little more breeze which made the course play a lot harder and gave it more of a links feel. It is a really nice course, as it is on top of a hill in the heart of the south downs it is quite up and down so would recommend a trolley, we walked it but were pretty tired at the end of it.
Guy in the pro shop was super helpful, we can't comment on the bar facilities as we headed home afterwards but looked good.
Greens had just had a dressing on them, but they were still quick and responsive. Fairways aren't straight and are undulating which is par for the course due to its location. 16 is just a lovely hole to play, a good drive with plenty of roll, allows for a short iron into a green that falls away down the hill
Will be playing again soon
Challenging winds
Due to the positioning of the golf course playing in high winds definitely ain’t for the faint hearted I thoroughly enjoyed the course the par 3 holes should not be taken for granted. And the wind directions and cross winds on certain holes make playing really difficult it’s probably the first time I have had to plan my shots on every hole I will definitely play here again in the future I can’t see myself becoming a member here as I could not deal with the challenging conditions constantly but every now and again to test my game most definitely the green keepers should be proud
Nice course with great views
Wonderful course with great views across the Downs through 360 as you play. Very hilly - pretty much keep going up for front 9. The greens had recently been sanded and were not as good as they could have been. I’m sure in the summer they would be very good and very fast! Access is up a tiny narrow lane but is signposted.
Good little course in the area.
Lovely experience. Given how easy it is to get on and pace of play, I would definitely come back.
Fantastic condition
A fantastic course in excellent condition. Perched on the top of the Sussex downs with great views. Poses a challenge no matter what the conditions.
Perfect greens
Course was in great condition particularly the greens which were very true. Played on a windless day which made the game a lot easier. Recommend a buggy or electric trolley as it’s pretty hilly
Lewes golf club first play
quite challenging as it has hilly terrain but great views from almost every hole. the layout definitely needs the little map they offer of you will not intuitively find the holes. could do with some information on each tee just as a thought. definitely up a club when shooting uphill. you will need it all
Wet, fog and humid
First time playing. Nobody else turn up the entire time as locals must know the weather better!! But despite forecast of 100% rain for the entire morning we had only half ‘wet’ holes. Worse was the fog. Hit straight and hope. Was an experience!!
Course in very good condition. Greens fast but bumpy. Always enjoy a round here because views alone make up for having a bad round.
