Beautiful views at Seaford Head Photo submitted by u8901909 on 03/13/2017
Seafood Head
A much loved favourite to play on the South Coast of England
A glorious march every at Seaford head
Straight after lockdown we were surprised that there were so many tight lies due to worn out fairways. But greens were consistent and tees were all in play.
We normally enjoy the views with a post round pint but due to covid rules we knew we dhould bring our own in bottles..
Loverly to be back after 3months and seaford head is a great course to play.
Seaside
Some great holes to play some fantastic views across the bay & cliffs 18th star hole recommend
Fantastic Views
Exciting course if a little hilly.
Final tee is fantastic
Always a good course to play
Always enjoy playing here. Not done so for a while, but pleased and surprised to see it in good nick, despite recent lockdown.
Pace of play here is normally the only issue, Holes 1-4 normally the slowest, but then play tends to speed up a little.
The course is popular, hence the pace of play. Views are great and everyone is friendly both on and of the course.
The Par 3 12th,which links the lower part of the course to the top cliff part, is a tough short walk up hill, but to then get to tee off from the 18th a short while later, with the view and all to eagerness to get the driver out and launch one, makes it all worth while.
Great Day
A proper golf test and a thoroughly enjoyable experience . The final tee off from the top of the cliff is memorable.
Fabulous!!
I chose to join Seaford Head over the far more expensive Seaford Golf Club simply because I love this course! There are maybe a couple of fairly featureless holes but overall it is a varied and challenging course that is in the main fairly forgiving for less than arrow straight tee shots. The eighteenth is an absolutely stunning hole although there are plenty of others with marvellous views across The South Downs, The Seven Sisters and along the coast - Portsmouth and The Isle of Wight are clearly visible most days and they are sixty miles away! The course is rarely closed as it drains so well being on top of the chalk cliffs and is kept in marvellous condition by the green staff. The greens themselves are fantastic, even during the horribly wet conditions of the last couple of months there have only been a few days where temporary greens have been necessary. It can be very windy at times and there are a couple of fairly sharp climbs, but it really isn't as bad as it may look from a distance....anyway, it's all worth it to get to the elevated eighteenth tee.....once played, never forgotten...it really is stunning.
Fraser the resident pro is very welcoming and helpful, and the clubhouse (The View restaurant) is equally welcoming with a good range of fare, 'good pub food' opposed to fine dining.
You really won't regret it.....
And oh, that eighteenth....
No complaints to register
Always a pleasure to play on this course. Best kept greens in sussex !
Good course layout and helpful friendly staff.
Glorious October day
Apart from the irritation of a couple of temporary greens while they were being spiked the course was in fine shape on this glorious October day. Shooting my best score probably helped!
Well kept course, great views
This course has stunning views and is entertaining to play. It can be windy.
Well maintained fairways and greens
Perfect conditions friendly staff amazing views and a good golfing and physical challenge
Dry even after morning downpour
After incessant rain in the morning our foursome played at 2 on a dry course apart from a couple of puddly bunkers. Hugely enjoyable as usual. Not the most challenging but always interesting holes and the best views in Sussex golf
Stunning views all day
Played this course many times but despite the 6 weeks of drought I have rarely experienced it in better shape. Greens in perfect condition. Plays easily when the ball runs for miles as it did today so by no means the most challenging. The iconic 18th is worth the trip on its own. New clubhouse a definite improvement.
Fantastic views and good value
I have played here a few times now and it was fairly easy if you are straight and there is no wind. It was tough last time as I wasn’t so straight and a sea mist came in after the 9th and couldn’t see 100 yds. So missed the views. Greens were lush and consistent. Will probably return soon.
