Nice course and good value for money
The course is a lovely course considering the weather we have had. There are ball washers on every tee box and bins on every one too, it’s just a shame that people don’t use them!
There were a few people on the course that aren’t considerate of their slow play and also don’t repair pitch marks or divots.
I would recommend the course to a friend, and is certainly good value for money.
Etiquette
I like Silvermere a lot and played it for many years but we suffered a 3 ball ahead that spent more time videoing every short and chatting than golf. We dropped to holes to get ahead as there was no attempt at etiquette and subsequently enjoyed our last 7 holes immensely.
Given the drought, the course played well.
Beautiful course
An absolute treat to play. Superb course. Especially front 9. But final 2 holes are also superb.
Highly recommended
Interesting challenge in excellent condition
Good mix of long and short holes at each par level. Few straight holes, so planning needed to navigate undulating tree-lined fairways (which were very attractive as bushes in full bloom).
The course is known for the lake carries on 17 & 18, but the back nine deploys streams and ponds to require sensible course management.
Friendly and efficient starter.
Roving refreshment cart was a bonus.
Pace of play marked down as stuck behind a slow football.
Great challenge
Although the course is fairly flat it is very mature with Silver birches, dog legs and bunkers everywhere. A real challenge for the average golfer. Enjoyed it though and especially good value at the time we played. Would recommend and love to play again.
Take a crash helmet - you will have yobs hitting balls at you and the course ignore it
A warm, sunny, english evening was ruined by the course starter letting on a group of idiots who proceeded to hit balls into us throughout our round, the low point being a missile sent over our heads on a par 3 whilst we were on the green putting. A complaint was lodged with the course straight after our round, and despite e-mails and chasers silvermere have done nothing, their customer service has been very poor.
The course has been going downhill this year, with increased litter, divots and pitch marks, and this trajectory will continue if they keep allowing people on who lack even the most basic social functions.
Great course
Very good golf club the staff was fantastic the course was very challenging. The golf club overall is fantastic can’t wait to play it in the summertime.
Putting through Puddles
Fair course for all levels of golfers, first few holes are narrow but be careful not to loose your ball to those stray from the driving range!
I'd like to play this course again in the summer months as the rain left a few puddles on the greens.
For the time of year the course played well, boggy in places, but that was to be expected.
Picturesque 17th & 18th holes, good challenge for those that struggle with water!
Fair price for golf in the area - I will be back!
Potential to be Very Good
First and Foremost, the positives;
- A superb pro shop, driving range. All the usual refreshments available and good facilities to practice pre round. This was followed by a round filled with a good mixture of holes with character. 17 & 18 particular highlights over the lake. No half way hut but a drinks cart that provided adequate refreshment.
Now the not so great;
Horrendously slow with no evidence of the groups responsible being encouraged to hurry up or allow others to play through. No evidence of any course marshalls at all in fact. Certainly felt that tee times weren’t spread out correctly, they were definitely not adhered to if they were, probably due to the vacant starters hut. Course maintenance didn’t seem great. Fairways around driving range littered with range balls that had cleared the fence causing issues when finding you’re own ball, only complicated further by a huge amount of leaves. If you missed the fairway this is your own fault but between 3 golfers all hitting it fairly straight it got so bad that we had to introduce a little rule to our non competitive game that if you lost a ball under leaves in the fairway if all 3 agreed the approximate position we could drop another one without penalty.
Frustrating that it’s not the holes or set up that let the course down but more avoidable issues that you might not expect for the price.
The course is quite challenging
This is a good course to play with a nice layout and With some narrow fairways. Some holes need some really good management.
My only negative today was the poor quality of the greens. The hot weather obviously has a bearing on courses but maintaining the greens is paramount and considering the prestige of this course has they were very disappointing.
Good day
All in all a good day, staff very friendly and helpful.
Buggies were a bit pricey.
Greens were kept well.
Excellent course
One of my favorites courses around this area. Excellent condition, layout and staff. Fully recommended. Only downside is that the course is normally crowded
