Slow.
Booked a afternoon tee and wasn’t informed that there was a competition on. 3 golfers in front of our 3 ball was the slowest players I’ve come across nearly 3 hours to do 9 holes didn’t even attempt the back 9 it would’ve been dark by the time we would of finished. Booked via GolfNow and my friend couldn’t make it I had to pay £54 for the round because they wouldn’t refund me his green fee. Won’t be going to play there again anytime soon .
Excellent course - few tweeks
Course is in excellent condition especially considering the weather.
Only few issues were:
- as it was a first time playing here we found the course difficult to navigate between holes due to markings not being clear
- tee boxes were also in bad condition on certain holes (possibly due to course management)
- Hole makers on the tee boxes were also missing
Other than these slight niggles, excellent course and would highly recommend
Kind regards
Great local course
Possible one of my favourite courses local to me, well kept, challenging with a great layout. Staff are fantastic especially when i need to change my tee time, they always accommodate. So far I've only met friendly members too...
Tatty, let itself go.
poor tees, greens and fairways, bunkers have grass growing in them!?
OK, But
We have played this course many times but were disappointed with the course condition yesterday. Clearly the course has suffered from the Covid-19 closures. The bunkers were overgrown, and many had grass growing in them, the greens were long and very slow, and the general standard of the course wasn’t near what it used to be. We paid possible the most we have ever paid to play at Staverton and it was disappointing to see it in this condition.
Going downhill rapidly
Not Good.
Friendly welcome from a likeable pro and the view from the first tee remains lovely.... but its rapidly downhill from there.
The bunkers are overgrown, the rough to long, the fairways like semi rough the greens are slow and bumpy.
Terrible signage for those who dont play regularly- some broken ,some the wrong way round.
Very expensive for the standard of course presented which is a shame as they have some nice holes.
Course no too bad considering the recent weather, still a little wet in some places.
Do not count on having any food after your game facilities are very poor on that count.
Great for this time of year
Played here before but was delighted the course is starting to dry out. The bunkers were still GUR (bonus) but the fairways and greens in particular were in great condition.
Great greens
lovely course considering the amount of rain we’ve had in the last week. highly recommended. Very fair fairways and run-off areas. I suppose at these type of golf establishments they want to encourage continuous play. The only criticism I would have is that The golf club had no kitchen facilities when we arrived around midday. The only thing we could get was a cup of coffee from a vending machine. Didn’t have time to go into hotel.
Excellent Greens
Excellent value for money with good pace of play.
My only small gripe would be i thought the bunkers could be improved by removing alot of weeds in the middle of some and cutting around the edges.
Played of 18 handicap and scored 32 stabelford points.
Great course
Thoroughly enjoyed playing staverton again yesterday. Tees and greens and fairways were in excellent condition for the time of the year. Pace of play was great considering the amount of 4 balls ahead of us. No issues there. We were however disappointed at the lack of food available in the clubhouse after playing. We were told they don’t serve food in the winter. Given the popularity of the course I find it difficult to believe there wouldn’t be the demand for even a basic selection of food.
Enjoyable Round
Winter conditions, a very windy (25mph) cool day. Only played this course 3 times before (24 handicap) and find it a fair course, it is a challenge but generous fairway widths help. The tee boxes in good condition. The greens do vary in pace and condition but generally fairly good for this time of year. My golf buddy and I enjoyed the round and look forward to playing again shortly. Good value through GolfNow Hot deal.
Staverton in Winter / Spring
Played Staverton 1 March 2019, lovely layout and amenities plus staff were very friendly. The fairways and greens were firm although the fairways had been spiked and green needle tined.
Look forward to playing in the summer when the greens should be fast, true and perfect. Would rate this fantastic value for money, only downside was the needle tined greens.
