Golfer Reviews
This course has potential
Played this course few years ago and really enjoyed it but it has gone down hill considerably since.
In very poor condition, clearly over played, fairways was just a mud field.
Greens OK but the whole course needs serious TLC.
Top class greens for December
Recent heavy rain made the round heavy going. Worth the long drive to the venue though. Like to play the course in the summer
Really good round given the conditions
Given the very wet weather and the issues from COVID, this was a really enjoyable round of golf. Greens were about perfect
Upsetting
This course has the potential to be so good, just a shame it is not looked after correctly. The layout of the course and the holes are stunning, challenging and very fun with great views of almost every tee box. The condition of the course however is shocking and stops this being an exceptional course!!! I wouldn’t go again with the course in this condition however if it was maintained properly I would consider leaving my current club for it considering the potential it has. Would not advise for serious golfers either as the pace of play was shocking. Was 4 groups on one hole and etiquette had seemed to have disappeared!!
Good course
Course was in excellent condition for time of year. Challenge but good for all levels of player. Will go back in the summer as really enjoyed it and looks like they are trying to do it up.
Waiting time on every tee.
Lovely course with a bit of everything.
Maybe we were unfortunate on the day we played as there were, way too many golfers queuing up on the first tee. And it was the same for 18 holes!!!!!
I won't rush back which is a shame as the course was great!!!
Great course layout
Played for the first time . Read the reviews before playing and was not Expecting much. Found the course layout very good apart from the lack of signage between holes and large walk between the 9th and tenth . The course was tidy the fairways were nice the greens were ok could do with a tad work but were putterable ball checked up ok . The tee boxes were ok but no signage or yardage on them . The round was just over 4hours 30mins . I would come back and play again
Fairway glass way to long!
Between me and the lad I played with, we Lost 5 balls on the fairway straight down the middles because the fairway grass was way to long! A nice course otherwise.
Slow.
Booked a afternoon tee and wasn’t informed that there was a competition on. 3 golfers in front of our 3 ball was the slowest players I’ve come across nearly 3 hours to do 9 holes didn’t even attempt the back 9 it would’ve been dark by the time we would of finished. Booked via GolfNow and my friend couldn’t make it I had to pay £54 for the round because they wouldn’t refund me his green fee. Won’t be going to play there again anytime soon .
Excellent course - few tweeks
Course is in excellent condition especially considering the weather.
Only few issues were:
- as it was a first time playing here we found the course difficult to navigate between holes due to markings not being clear
- tee boxes were also in bad condition on certain holes (possibly due to course management)
- Hole makers on the tee boxes were also missing
Other than these slight niggles, excellent course and would highly recommend
Kind regards
Great local course
Possible one of my favourite courses local to me, well kept, challenging with a great layout. Staff are fantastic especially when i need to change my tee time, they always accommodate. So far I've only met friendly members too...
Tatty, let itself go.
poor tees, greens and fairways, bunkers have grass growing in them!?
OK, But
We have played this course many times but were disappointed with the course condition yesterday. Clearly the course has suffered from the Covid-19 closures. The bunkers were overgrown, and many had grass growing in them, the greens were long and very slow, and the general standard of the course wasn’t near what it used to be. We paid possible the most we have ever paid to play at Staverton and it was disappointing to see it in this condition.
Going downhill rapidly
Not Good.
Friendly welcome from a likeable pro and the view from the first tee remains lovely.... but its rapidly downhill from there.
The bunkers are overgrown, the rough to long, the fairways like semi rough the greens are slow and bumpy.
Terrible signage for those who dont play regularly- some broken ,some the wrong way round.
Very expensive for the standard of course presented which is a shame as they have some nice holes.
