Golfer Reviews
Very good condition for winter
Enjoyed the course on my first time of playing. Perhaps avoid Tuesday mornings as I was stuck behind the Seniors' comp. in winter this is only 9 holes (a friendly senior informed me on the joint 9th/18th tee) so enjoyed the freedom of the back nine. To be fair the back nine is more enjoyable but it's a good layout with challenges for every level of player.
extremely slow...
The course itself is lovely and in fantastic condition however it doesn't matter how nice it is if the only thing they're interested in is money. they don't control the tee slots at all they just send as many golfers out as they can and you end up with a large queue on the first tee resulting in extremely slow and painful rounds and unfortunately we ended up walking of the course again! This has happened to often now and it's a real shame because i do enjoy the course but it's only as good as its managed, and this case not very well.
Two day break
A good course that is challenging but fair. Suitable for all handicaps and no crazy hazards. The greens were quite fast and consistent and we enjoyed our three rounds. Sadly, the bar area overlooks the car park snot the golf course.
If you stop at the hotel, upgrade to the deluxe rooms and don't bother with the evening buffet meals which are appalling.
Great course with plenty of Hazards
This is a great well looked after course
It will definitely test your ability as golfers
The green keepers & management get top marks
for its great condition especially when the dry weather has been hard on the greens as with a lot of other courses in Warwickshire
Great round of golf but pace of play was to slow. Continually waiting at tee boxes
Gem of a corse
A very well kempt golf course set in gently undulating countryside which makes for a healthy walk and challenging golf. Greens and fairways were faultless,it would be hard to find a better maintained course anywhere,so can throughly recommended this track to anyone.
Great value but slow
Booking through this site made it great value and will def use it again.
Course was very good with excellent greens.
The course though was packed and incredibly slow.
We had to join up with others about half way round and it still took 4.5 hrs.
Greens are stunning
Greens are stunning, course in great condition. Was busy, we was a 2 ball they put us with another 2 ball, but never had to wait on any hole.
Lovely course
Course is in very good condition. Greens different to what I am used to but this is a plus. Will definitely play here again
Sunday Sunshine
The course was in great condition. The greens were immaculate. Great value for money too.
Slowest rounds ever
For the second time in three rounds we had to stop after 9 holes, 2.5 hours in front 9 is silly, people at this course never let you play through and there's not a Marshall to be seen, they used to at least have a starter on the first but not anymore. So a 4 ball of senior players held up a 2 ball of young players. Simply wouldn't play here ever again in the afternoon
Absolutely incredible - best greens I have ever played on - even for summer!!!
I am a 3 handicap golfer and have played across the UK.
These greens are outstanding - the greens in February are better than most clubs will achieve in the middle of summer.
Golf shop well stocked and very friendly - more than happy to help. Starter and marshall very informative.
Very well run golf facility. Full size driving range to warm up first. Choice of tees to suit ability. Tees and fairways immaculate for February.
Will 100% return here - wish I could be a member!!!
A Really Nice Layout ... But Always Busy
I've played this course about 10 times now and really, really enjoy the layout. No 2 holes are alike and it really mixes it up with short and long par 3s, short, long, straight and dog leg par 4s and long and straight and long and dog leg par 5s. It's got the lot. If you're doing 36 holes here your thighs would certainly let you know come the end of the day as it throws in plenty of gradient but instead of becoming tedious and tiring all the hills add to its charm. My handicap is 3.5 and I play to that on a lot of courses, here it's more likely to be a +5 on a good day and that's off the yellows. It really is a smashing mixture and I could see the White/Blue tees (that I haven't managed to play) being a really good challenge. It's always in good condition and the greens are always in a good state and run true, the bunkers are always nice too.
You can get the odd bargain here for £15 a round off certain sites but that's not the norm but I have never had this course to myself, far from. It always seems to be busy, really busy and being a member I'm sure is quite frustrating if you're hoping for a nice quick round, it's just not gonna happen. It's a popular hotel complex and I have heard members have been rung up to have their tee times moved as guests wanted the tee off time. Whether this is fact or not I'm not sure, I'd certainly hope not.
It has a good sized shop, a driving range, a friendly bar and if you're doing it as part of a hotel stay package you wouldn't be disappointed as it has a swimming pool and busy bar/restaurant. If you've been jiffed with organising your annual lads golf weekend away you'd be onto a winner with this place as it's a gem of a layout and the hotel ticks all the other boxes you need for a good weekend away.
If it wasn't for being part of a busy hotel, I'd be a member tomorrow!
