Challenging course; greens disappointing
Played in glorious sunshine on 30 April. Long, inviting fairways with some challenging approaches to greens. A lot of elevation change over the course so tiring on a hot day. Not much rough but some water hazards and small copses plus strategically placed bunkers. 18th is a signature hole with a picturesque pond in front of the green. The course doesn’t have a wow factor but it demands careful thought to navigate successfully. The greens were slow and variable. They had been spiked and sanded so perhaps with some rain and watering they will come good, though some were patchy and needed some restorative care to produce a more uniform surface.
Fantastic Golf Course
First time playing this amazing golf course. Fairways are in grear condition. Greens very well kept and painfully quick. Fantastic overall - Will definitely be coming back!
Good course
Good course with challenging holes. Unfortunately with bad weather holes 16 and 17 were closed. Overall good.
No Complaints
'Golfers breakfast' in the hotel was great value at £8 and perfect way to start the day.
Course was very well maintained and staff were friendly
Time to update the comments and rating for this course ..
There hasn't been any up to date reviews to help golfers make a choice on this course, so here goes ...
To sum it up - an interesting, championship-style resort track in great condition for this time in year, at a very reasonable price (£20). You just need to accept that you will have mostly three or fourballs in front of you at weekends with it being a popular stay and play venue for trips and outings.
There are lots of elevated tees and greens which i really enjoyed and the tighter, shorter par 4s mean this is not a bombers course. You will be tested with shot shaping both left and right, having to use every club in the bag,
The biggest surprise was the condition and the price .. both were 5 stars for me.
Probably the best resort course I've played in the last 10years in the UK.
Very average course with poor greens
Played on 20/03/2025.
We found the layout of the course ok, some nice use of the land made for some interesting holes.
Unfortunantly, on some of the holes you are at risk of being hit by other peoples shots and they dont need to be that waywards with them.
This is supposed to be a championship standard course, unfortunantly the greens are some of the worst Ive played on, more like the quality of your local parks pitch and putt, patchy, uneven, super slow, some areas of just mud and had what looked like big patches of moss growing on them
Glad Ive played here once but wont be rushing back anytime soon.
Buggy hire was £30, a guiness cost £6.95!!!
As good as ever
Good course, generally good condition, some greens a bit worse for wear from winter conditions but all open. Always enjoy playing here - good parkland layout
Lazy Sunday golf
Played course a few times . First time playing this year . Course was playing well . Conditions were good for this time of year . Will go play there again .
Great
First time playing. Lovely course. Green were in great condition considering the time of year and the amount of rain we have had. Some wet patches but to be expected and layout makes for a great round of golf.
Very good course with a varied selection of holes, pace of play a little slow to start but sped up after 5 holes.Course was very good overall with tee boxes all open except 1 and in good condition as were all greens which did roll a little bobble here and there but with the recent weather no surprise will only get better would definitely return soon.
Good course, slow play a problem
Course is in good condition, greens very good!!
The only issue was a large society holding up play, nearly 3 hours for 9 holes !!
Course was lovely challenging but loved it, shame the greens were rock solid made approach play and putting impossible, also shame the bar was closed when we finished our round would have liked a coffee after but not a major issue.
Disappointed
Arrived to the course after not being notified that 3 holes were shut, the course was playing short by over 400 yards. Poor conditions and greens were terrible.
Great value
The course was in fantastic condition for this time of year, very well maintained, I’play a lot of courses and this has to be my number 1 locally in terms of value for money.
Greens, fairways and tee boxes all maintained to a great standard. The course drains well enough that we were able to have a buggy in November which is a huge bonus for older or less able bodied players, as the course is quite long and hilly.
Excellent experience all round, highly recommended.
