When you can’t find any grass to place a tee, youve gotta ask questions! Photo submitted by u2714373 on 11/23/2023
Poor condition
Course in poor condition. The greens are especially bad with bare patches and holes. A number of fairways are barren and waterlogged
Don’t bother
Met the grumpiest man ever in golf shop. Clearly didn’t want to be there. No tee boxes just markers on fairway. Only one ball cleaner on course, on back 9 somewhere. Most holes had no info such as yardage and layout. Greens were crap. Some had GUR them. Never seen that before. Greens were shocking. Tree debris all over the course. Tyre tracks all over fairways. Club house and hotel looked nice but didn’t bother going in. Must have spent all their money on them and not the course. Won’t be going back.
Not great!
Very waterlogged or under water for most of the course. Lots of construction work going on, tyre tracks across the course and incredibly muddy. Appreciate there are improvements going on but certainly wouldn't expect to pay full price during this period. We paid the Golf Now discount of £24, normal price is £40.
Played here 20 years ago and it was a lovely course, certainly won't be returning.
Not as bad as reviews suggest
Yes the course is not in the greatest condition but it's certainly playable. Wouldn't pay £40 but for £24 (hotgolf tee off time) I thought it wasn't bad.
It’s ok
I think the hotel is more important to the company rather than the golf course, the course needs some tlc and the layout needs some attention
Course in poor condition
Greens in a shockingly poor state , £24 is over priced I’d say
Very poor for the money
The lay out of the course was nice, tee boxes were shocking on every hole, the course was very poorly sign posted and confusing the 9th green was one of the worst I’d ever seen, I’ve played better £20 courses so for the tee time to cost £40 is shocking never playing here again. This course has a lot of potential if taken over by staff who cared for it
Poor fairway
Bad fairway on the 10th. Has not been raining for over a week but the 10th had lots of water my ball was plugged in the fairway.
Hidden Gem
Absolutely enjoyed this beautiful course, so many enchanted little holes, with willow tree fluff dropping on the greens. It rained all day previous to our tee off time so the course was soaked in places, so many ponds and rivers to avoid but still very challenging, only complaint would be not enough signs to next tee box.. definitely worth a round for £18 👍🏻
Nice course but can be frustrating
It’s a nice course but can be frustrating because it’s very easy to lose a ball just off the fairway. The grass is a too long. There is a lot of water so you need to be fairly accurate with your approach. The course cafe / bar closes at 4 which is too early especially after a round and looking forward to a drink. Helpful staff
very windy
good value on the hot deal, and it was not busy which was good spend ages standing around at a lot of courses, i have played this course a few times and it is difficult, yes the odd green needed a few repairs, and the tee boxes a bit scrappy, but i am not worried about perfect tee boxes. fairways were fine.
will play this course again if its on the hot deal.
the suffolk
friendly staff ,course needs cutting to determine the fairway ,lost 3balls in the fairway!! couple of greens shocking , and not well sign written members very friendly
Bring you’re own lawnmower
The Suffolk has always struggled with keeping the course condition playable. Today it was 99% unplayable. The fairways grass was so long and deep, paired with every leaf strewn across it… meant even a fairway bound drive was destined to be lost. 9 balls were lost in the fairway….
It has such great potential, yet it seems the course Is left to rot whilst millions of pounds are spent building cabins in the middle of the course.
Needs serious improvement and investment of simply maintaining the course. When you can’t find any grass to put a tee in, youve gotta ask questions!
Not ready
Currently a construction site. Vans and workmen all over the course. Layout is terrible, very confusing with little or no signage. The buildings are akin to the course as in the layout is confusing and makes no sense. We gave up on the back 9 having paid £30ea for 18. Not worth the money. Avoid.
