Direction
Sorry to say I was disappointed with the course and the lack of direction & signage which is needed when playing a course for the first time..
Disapointing
We turned up early and had some good food in the club house. all very nice and Covid friendly.
went to the pro shop to be told that the back 9 was closed and we would need to play the front 9 twice as renovations were taking place on the back 9. I rang the shop 3 days before to book a buggy and this wasn't mentioned, nor was it mentioned in the booking process.
played the front 9 stuck behind 3 older women at a very slow pace. pro had told us we couldn't have a second tee off time for the second time around until we had finished front nine.
ladies stoke indexes were bizarre !! 3 par 4's on front 9 were over 450 yards and high numbers. wow.
my 2 handicap wife wasn't happy !
played 9 once and went...….
Features
Some interesting holes and lovely views.
Couple of temporary greens that could be better!!!
Teignmouth G.C.
All came together nicely. Allowed to go off on arrival. Course was reasonably quiet and so progress was good. Only slight problem was we finished at 18.04 and the Bar closed at 18.00 so we didn't get a drink after.
Great Course
Fantastic course which has really been looked after by the greenkeepers.
Rude and obnoxious
The day started badly, double booking out tee time, us a four ball with a members two ball!! it appears there are one set of rules for visitors and another completely different set for members.
The pace of play - well it took us over 4 hours to complete 15 holes and we were in buggies!!
The final straw was when a member shouted at us to move on when it was impossible to do so due to us waiting on a two ball in front. The greens were nice, sad that the fairways were average. I expected more and was very disappointed with the whole day. Definitely won’t be going back!!!
A MacKenzie treat in need of some tlc
A really enjoyable round on a course with many typical MacKenzie features - great design, effective use of natural contours, tricky greens and the views are spectacular. Makes good use of the heather as 2nd cut rough meaning if you miss the fairways its a long way round. The greens were in reasonable condition, but not as quick or as consistent as they might be. The tees and bunkers need some tlc and many of the fairways are struggling in the ongoing dry weather. Overall if you enjoy slightly quirky courses and appreciate the MacKenzie genius, it's well worth playing. A really friendly set up, needing our support.
Family Round of Golf
Holiday to Torbay and played Torquay, Dartmouth and Teignmouth. We enjoyed most of the holes at Teignmouth but the 16th was not enjoyable because of the unfair slope and the gorse bushes that the balls run off into. Preferred lies were good as there are lots of moorland lumps and bumps on the fairway. The heather is also challenging. However, overall the course is quirky and we enjoyed it. Lovely views. Stayed for a BBQ. Slow to get food out but when it came it was tasty.
Must visit if in area
We played this on a nice day the course was in top condition , although it was busy because of the way they stagger tees 1 and 10 depending on the time and players the whole game just flowed . The greens where fantastic and the par 3s where a great challenge .
The views from the 19th made a top end to a great game .
Would recommend to anyone in the vicinity to play this course
Top day
First time playing here and after we got head around which tee to start on we had a top day. The course was in great condition, the greens where in good condition
Definitely a course you need to play sensible and you don't need to hit your driver on every hole. The par 3s are a challenge.
Lovely course great views but not one for beginners
Testing course with excellent views
Really enjoyed this course. A testing course with obstacle to clear and many a bunker protecting the greens. Numerous bunkers down the fairways to avoid as well. Only downside was that quite a few holes had roads running alongside them, one of them a busy main road, which you were always conscious of. Greens had just been treated which meant they were bobbly. Great views to enjoy looking towards both East Devon and Torbay.
Best course in Devon
