Should have been closed
Have played Telford several times but have never seen it that wet underfoot. There had been a few dry days leading up to us playing there, but the course couldn’t cope with the rain that morning.
If they hadn’t have to have catered for the large amount of societies in attendance, I’m sure it would have been closed. Avoid until next summer.
The course is very wet
In reality the course should have been closed. Fairways were waterlogged, a number of bunkers were full of water. The greens were in great condition and in the dryer months this course would be fantastic but is in desperate need of decent drainage.
Wettest course I’ve ever played!
Out of the club’s control, obviously, but we should have been given the option whether to play as, in my opinion, the course should have been closed as it was far too wet. The underfoot conditions spoilt what was otherwise a lovely day. The greens were excellent in spite of the rain that had fallen. Would be good to play it when it is dry.
Furs Time
First time playing this course was really good condition considering the rain that had be the previous week. Greens really good. Nice practice area to use before the game. Staff really friendly and helpful. Pace of play was quiet slow but given the number of people on the course to be expected overall really enjoyed the round.
Excellent
The course was in excellent condition and the huge greens were a test for any grade of golfer
Quality course lay out however the tees are in need of maintenance especially the par 3s as the course is highly used. Greens were great and there are some nice challenging holes.
Away day
Very polite and helpful staff good course and the pace of play was also good I would recommend the course to anyone.
Telford Spa
Great day out with a nicely laid out course. Half way house with sandwiches and snacks available. Flat course in the main with nice wide fairways.
Nice return
1st time played here in 38 years. Course has matured nicely greens a bit 2 paced but good.
Only concern was the state of the bunkers which looked like they had nor been raked all day
Nice to be back
1st time playing since being a Junior in the early 90's.
The course had matured nicely and it was in good condition.
Greens a bit 2 paced but could have been me.
Only criticism was the state of the bunkers which were poorly raked but this vould have been down to who was on the course that day.
Great value for money
Great golf pro shop with friendly staff, nice changing rooms and facilities
Course was in good condition considering the weather we have had, fantastic greens they played great, good size practise green, and didn't have chance to use the driving range but it looked great
Great hay
Course in fair condition since it was first time the whole course was open and had its first mow of the year still a bit wet in places
5 Hour Round as a One Ball
First time playing this course after being recommended by a friend.
The course was open after a week of being shut and personally I think it should’ve remained shut. It was so boggy and I lost balls in fairways due to them being plugged so deep. Course conditions definitely in need of maintenance but I could see in the height of summer, this course could be very nice. Greens need a bit more TLC, and a lot of bunkers were small ponds.
As a one ball progressing swiftly through the course I was stuck behind a 3 ball of lads who were struggling to get off the tee box. They were slow due to 4 balls ahead of them from non staggered tee times, but not allowing a one ball to play through when you’re having to shoot provisionals almost every hole is just a bit poor in my opinion. Took me 5 hours to get around the whole course… incredibly slow day.
