Enjoyable Round
The Hampshire normally drains very quickly so is always a good option after a spell of wet weather. In fact my playing partners shared a buggy, a rare sight on most courses this winter.
Great value course, greens in nice condition
Always enjoy playing here. No winter tees and playable even after heavy rain. Staff excellent and super value.
Good course
Course time was 12:36 but was unable to tee off until 12:45, teams in front were very slow and but by the time we got to 8th the pace had picked up. Course overall is long and cam be challenging on some holes. Condition of course overall was excellent with only one temp green due to nature . I would highly recommend this course and I am looking forward to play there again soon
Great course
Play 18 holes today and considering all the rain it has held up extremely well, fairways etc in good condition.
Read some reviews about greens not great , but I have to disagree, found the greens to be more than acceptable. Yes they weren’t the best I’ve ever played but all considered, weather , time of year etc they are in good shape
Staff very friendly
The Hampshire Golf Club
Considering the rain we’ve had this last couple of months the course drains really fast and is playable. Our course is closed due to flooding so it’s great to have this as an option.
Got some challenging holes and the only problem is the greens are a bit bumpy but still great to get on a course that’s dry and playable
Good winter ciurse
The Hampshire is a very good course to play when the weather turns wetter. It’s probably one of only a few to remain fully open in the mid / south Hampshire area. Due to this it can become busy at weekends. With a noon T, we were hoping to get round (4 ball) before dark - and just made it due to some slow play in front that bunched up the groups. The rain set in & the last 4 holes were played in continuous rain. Overall good experience
What a let down
Don’t play, only given 1 star for the wonderful views whilst walking. Greedy owners had over booked the tee times at every 4 minutes, we were 25 minutes late teeing off as a result. Should be £10-20 to play this course maximum. Very disappointing. Putting in the car park would be an improvement from the greens. Tee boxes a mess, bunkers look like they have cheap builders sand in them. Fairways have had no attempt at filling in divots or animal damage. The 13th green has been a temp for some time now which evidences the lack of a willingness to invest in the course.
Great days golf
First time I played and welcoming friendly people playing here and nice pint afterwards in the bar. Course in good condition. Enjoyable course and a good team there.
Good course
Even with all the rain we have had the course was manly dry and no standing water. The greens are really good for this time of year
At risk of being derelict
Played this course many times over the years, always enjoyed the layout and condition. Until I returned to play on 26/10/2025. Hardly recognisable, tee boxes are a mess and all 18 greens are damaged. Such a shame, would not return unless something drastic happened to turn this course around
Once a Great Course – Now Completely Neglected
We played Hampshire Golf Club last year and were genuinely impressed — the layout was brilliant and it felt like a course with real potential. Fast forward to this visit and it’s honestly unrecognisable for all the wrong reasons.
The tee boxes are in terrible condition — battered, uneven, and clearly not maintained. The greens are even worse: slow, patchy, uncut, unrolled, and generally looking like they’ve been forgotten entirely. Bunkers are either completely overgrown or have just been left to disappear altogether.
The disappointment doesn’t stop on the course, either. The clubhouse facilities are extremely poor, with very basic food and drink options — including out-of-date sausage rolls, which says it all about the attention to detail.
Such a shame, because the course layout itself is still great and with proper care it could be something again. But right now, it would take a huge amount of work to bring it back.
Would not recommend it to anyone travelling or paying full price — save your money and play elsewhere.
Never again!
Visited here for the second time just to confirm that my first opinion wasn't inaccurate, sadly it was, subsequently there won't be another visit.
To cut to the chase the course is in dismal condition, which is a bit of a shame as the course layout is really good and the potential of the venue to be really good is there for all to see.
Unfortunately the arrogant and argumentative ownership don't seem to have the same view or any intention of maintaining the course or improving it.
Every single person I met on both my visits, including the one or two staff I spoke too, said the same thing.
The condition of the tee boxes and the greens in general is probably one of the worst I've seen in many many years and the bunkers are simply terribly neglected, but what can you expect when there are only two green keepers for a 27 hole complex.
To put it bluntly just go to the driving range instead.. you'll only regret wasting your time and money here.
Don’t, you’ll only feel you’ve wasted your money.
Like the title.. it’s such a shame as the course condition is terrible.. 2 green keepers for such large set up is scandalous.. owner needs to sell and leave it to people who know what they’re doing, but he won’t. DONT SUPPORT THIS COURSE.
Course Review
Really Good course for Beginner to intermediate golfer. The staffs are friendly and helpful.
