Proper
Excellent course, pretty long and challenging off the whites. Was windy too which made it more tricky. Some excellent water holes and the greens were rolling brilliantly.
Good rate but not as good as it used to be.
Played course many times but just looking a bit tired round the edges… Pace of play on the front 9 was good but back 9 we walked off with 3 holes to go due to the pace of play.
Not sure I would play again.
The Oxfordshire
Fantastic but challenging course. Good course management skills however can’t help your score if you are not a long hitter
Great Course, Amazing Venue
Course was in great condition! Greens were running perfect, not the first time I’ve played here but I will be coming back again, especially for £20 for a midweek tee time in April! Looking forward to coming back as the course is a great challenge for all levels.
Superb
Stunning condition and layout . Best 40.00 I have ever spent on a green fee . Unbelievable value
Nearly Ready for Summer
Course has improved lots from my last round 5 weeks ago. Greens are nearly ready for the best time of the year, fairways good, water wet and very windy. A really good test of golf and an enjoyable course. See you again soon
Great day at a great course!
Immaculate course. Staff brilliant and facilities fantastic.
Halfway house and the sausage rolls were much needed after a warm few holes.
Would absolutely love to come back and play again. Spike bar was welcoming and a wide variety of drinks.
5*!
Definitely worth a visit
Love this place. Big tournament course with some amazing holes. Course improving fast after the winter. Not as manicured as it used to be but the layout is top notch. Shout out to the half way house, banging sausage rolls.
We will return, if we can the green fee.
Great course, wrong time of year
It’s that time of year when on course prep is for later April in to early May. Loved the layout, requiring different shot shapes and used most clubs in the bag. Not an overly difficult knock with mostly forward tees but very little carry when the ball lands.
Greens had recently been tined and sanded and so putting was a lottery.
Looking forward to playing again in April where I’m sure things will be more settled. Interesting use of the water which largely comes in to play in the latter half, with the standout hole being the 17th which engages the golfing brain or your swimming trunks/bathers.
Shame
Amazing course, but arrived to punched greens with no warning! Ruined the day for us.
Course still great to play
We arrived and the course was £29 which was a great price got warned it was muddy off the tees and greens but didn’t find it a problem a few balls plugged and took some time to find but other than that a great round will return in the summer. Best in the area.
Unplayable & poor - more unracked sand on the greens than in the bunkers!
Despite travelling over two hours to play this and paying a heavy green fee for the course conditions was a joke! See the uploaded photos of this review. Greens weren't just untrue or stupidly slow from the heavy hollow tining, they were unplayable! On more than half of the holes there was more sand on the greens than in the bunkers which wasn't properly racked in. Winter temporary greens are far better than these honestly! Before playing I walked past what I thought was the chipping practice green not the putting green. No on course managment for slow pace of play. Green keepers with loud machines on a midsummer's day as well. Not worth playing with no notice for things like this for what is meant to be such a reputable course. Awful!
Must play
Amazing course challenging for all handicaps. Fairways and greens were spotless. Some great holes overlooking Thame. Must play if your in the area
Clemmy
Cored greens did not impact on enjoyment on a top course
A true beast
Lovely course and challenging to any level of golfer .
Even though the course was water logged it still held a true test .
Greens in super condition.
Only negative was the 3 ball who made it a 4 hour 40 minutes round as they wouldn't let any groups through
Underlying drainage issue detracts from an excellent experience
This was my first time playing the course in the winter (I've played and enjoyed multiple summer rounds). Overall the experience was a good one, however I feel more needs to be done about the fairway drainage issues. Particularly on high ground such as the 10th/18th fairways. Despite not having rained for 10 days there was still a lot of standing water and very soft ground underfoot on too many fairways. I understand around the low holes beside the iconic water holes but not on the raised ground. Greens were epic, nicely looked after course in other respects and great facilities. Course design is superb, even feels long off the yellows.
