Greens ,tee boxes were excellent considering the amount of rain they have taken the fairways were in reasonable condition again considering the amount of rain but with lots of standing water , we lost a number of balls on or just off the fairway that plugged never to be seen again .walking between holes and on to fairways was like competing in a tough mudder, great course but nearly unplayable, should have been closed.
Wet and cold but worthwhile
First time playing the Oxfordshire , £40 per person . Weather was freezing and ground was pretty soft. Greens were huge and undulating but not overly fast . Tee boxes were all off the yellows they were in good condition. Fairways were wet but very playable. Rough was tough but fair, plenty of water to play over and round. Course was full and we got round as a two ball in 3.5 hours and were let through by 2 4 ball groups. Everyone we met were very friendly and chatty .clubhouse was open but we did not go for a drink afterwards. Well worth the 90 mile drive to play !
Fantastic evening of golf, comfortably squeezed in 9 holes with no one in front or behind us. Course met every expectation. Managed to play 10, 11, 17 and 18 before the light got us. Great challenging course.
An amazing experience
Worth every penny. Such a challenging and wonderful course.
A Stadium course
The Oxfordshire is a sculpted stadium / resort course that is nice to play. Not traditional but a good challenge with some good holes.
The fairways and light rough are wide so not too hard to find your ball and nots lots of looking in woods and deep rough. A fair bit of water but no real forced carries.
When we played there the greens had been cored and sandy so not too good to put on, what was bad was 5at there was no liners in the holes so they looked tatty and didn’t,to play well. The rest of the course was fine.
We played off the whites at 6800 and it is long So you do need to be a solid hitter. The yellows are A nice length for general play
Bar and clubhouse were nicely presented. Only problem we had was that there was a large loud group of golfers. They demonstrated the drinking and social distancing don’t go together very well. Not a reflection on the club.
The standout hole was the 17th, so many ways to play it
Would definitely play there again
Challenging, well presented course.
All of our fourball have played The Oxfordshire before so knew what to expect. Great value for money. Will return again soon.
Don't go in wet conditions. Would love to go back in summer
I would not recommend this course in wet conditions in Autumn/Winter/Spring. They have very little drainage off of the fairways - but what makes it much worse is that they have no hardstanding paths between green to tee and from tee to fairway, and as such these areas have become amazingly churned up with mud, we felt like we were in the WW1 trenches. We also lost a lot of balls from just plugging in the mud/water pools - then you have no chance to find them.
They must install paths!
Having said that - I would love to come back in summer when the ground is hard and the greens are in better condition. Some of the holes with water are breathtaking.
A super course!
The course is long, which gives a few extra challenges and the chance to hit long irons and woods into the greens.
A lot water and bunkers, but they are well positioned to make the course tough, but a great challenge.
The setting is fairly open, so when there is any wind your really feel it.
The starter & green-keepers were all pleasant.
The tees & greens were brilliant.
Given the torrents of rain the course was very wet, but perfectly playable.
A great day out & with Teeoftimes great value.
Fabulous views a good test
Well designed and laid out championship course with fantastic facilities.
It’s location makes it very susceptible to wind that effects all holes, all part of the challenge this course challenge.
The condition of the course however for the first time at this championship Venu was a little disappointing.
Please play here it will test you.
Absolutely amazing course
Amazing layout to this course. Greens in peak condition. Fairways in peak condition. Bunkers, of which there are plenty, are full of proper sand.
Course has plenty of water to keep you honest. Especially on the 11th which is what i can only describe as the signature hole (to me) with water running the full length of the hole from tee to green.
