Great Friday afternoon’s entertainment
Played this course for the second time.
Tracy Park is a really nice setting and the course is a good challenge. Quite forgiving of the odd wayward drive but the greens are undulating and present a good test.
Very enjoyable day of golf would recommend the Cromwell course to everyone
Always Good To Go Back
Have played both the courses at Tracy Park a number of times. Of the two, the Cromwell is the more challenging and my favourite of the two. A little bit more rough and ready than the Crown, which always seems better kept. I expect this is where the members play. The Cromwell is 18 holes that climb the hill above the manor before playing back and forth across the hill to return to a finish in front of the manor house at the 18th, where you will find a green the size of a small county. In fact most greens on the Cromwell are quite large with some severe slopes - certainly a course to bring the putting game to and your green reading will be severely tested. The stand out hole is certainly the par 3 10th, played from an elevated tee to another large, undulating green with water right and bunkers to the left - so be straight and you should be fine!
Off the course they are starting to recover from the credit crunch that hit when they were looking to update the total golf experience. A new golf shop/reception is nice but I think they need to address the 19th. This remains a functional portakabin and not much else. If this can be upgraded to match the other facilities that the venue offers for weddings etc then Tracy Park will be somewhere I visit many times a year to play either course though most of my money will be spent on the Cromwell, which tends to be the quieter course due to the challenge that the changes in elevation brings. Don't be shy, give it a try!
Great new pro shop
Course has generally been tidied up and looking good apart from the greens had been treated and were awful but not advised of this in the pro shop disappointing.
Cromwell matured really well
I used to play here when new holes were just built. It's improved a lot since then. Would recommend. The grounds are fantastic, but the portacabin used as a bar is a blot on the landscape and treats members like 2nd class citizens. Much better when the main house was in bounds
What, No sand?
We played our Bi-annual competition over both courses at the resort. The layout of the courses is fantastic. Some very difficult holes, some you can really get after. The only real on course problem was that there was no sand at all in the bunkers. We had to play them as GUR.
The main off course problem was the Spikes Bar. It was under stocked, no real choice of drinks.(go to the main hotel was the order of the day from the staff) and the staff were often very unhelpful and uninterested.
Considering we were 20 golfers staying for 3 nights, we spent a considerable amount of cash on the resort. Unfortunately we will not be including the Resort on our tour schedule.
Enjoyable round
Played this course for the first time and really enjoyed it. We played the Cromwell course which has some interesting holes, some with far reaching views. There was only one real climb, the 6th I think, and that was not to strenuous. The pace of play was good but the course wasn't busy. The greens were true but with lots of undulations which adds to the challenge.
Good course
I played this course in November last year and I wasn't really sure about it but decided to give it another go... I was really pleased I did. The fairways and green's were in excellent condition, the bunkers were sandy rather than hard mud. You had some interesting holes with short/driveable par 4's that provides risk and reward, water hazards, drop holes and tight fairways. It was a good challenge but not unfair for mid to high handicappers. All in all a good course and I plan to now try the Crown course.
