Willingdon Golf Club

I love this course. I've only played it three times but each time I enjoy its challenges, its lovely design and its stunning views. I am 65 and like to walk round carrying my bag and this somewhat hilly course is hard work but so worth the effort. The ground staff do a wonderful job looking after all aspects of the course so the teeing areas, greens and fairways are in great condition even though the weather has not been kind here recently. Off course the staff in the pro-shop and bar are very friendly and there is a lovely restaurant upstairs manned by a husband and wife team who produce absolutely delicious food.

To find such a lovely yet challenging course with excellent off course facilities at this price is amazing and I would unreservedly recommend this course to anyone who has not played it. You will not be disappointed.

Played here a few times and it’s always in good condition can never fault the course

Arrived met by friendly informed shop pro who expected us. Directed us to first tee very friendly. Nice course with some pretty challenging home and steep uphill climbs for those on foot. Great experience all round

I live locally but had never played Willingdon before and didn't know what to expect, but boy did it exceeded my expectations. The course is so picturesque in the lee of the South Downs with spectacular views over Eastbourne. The greens are beautifully smooth but undulating and tricky and the course layout so interesting and surprising. I will now be asking all my friends to come and play this course as it really is a hidden gem.

Greens are in very good condition, staff and members are very friendly and the course is a challenge - the hills mean it plays longer than it looks from the card: we enjoyed our round,

A downside is the number of crossing fairways, care needed!

Good test of golf. Greens tricky, contours everywhere and not all consistent speed. Fairways well maintained - keep your eyes peeled on the odd crossover holes! Elevated tees galore, good workout on the climbs to get there. Very enjoyable, great views - will be back, little local knowledge will improve scores I’m sure...

Mind the badger holes near the 4th tee, as stepping in one severely damaged my leg causing much pain for the remaining round. Will not be able to play for the next few months.

Friendly staff, fun course with amazing views all the way to the sea.

Willingdon is a tree lined course and after 20 + years is maturing into a really picturesque joy, far from the farmers fields of years gone by. I would say the fairways are in the best condition since playing on and off for over 20+ years, although the green are not great, hopefully they will improve in the summer months. I am not sure where Golfnow (formerly TeeTimes) get there prices from as this course can be played at anytime for £20, there is a big sign outside promoting this offer.

2nd time here and enjoyed it more this time several temporary tees which we weren’t aware of but overall good

We played after a night of heavy rain. Just a shame that we were not told about the many temporary greens.. We were made very welcome in the clubhouse, the bar staff were great, very friendly. We will return when it's a bit warmer and when the swine isn't blowing at over 50mph

I love this course. Always in good condition and a good variety of holes. It is a challenging walk and holes do criss cross so need to be awake! Noise also travels so were told to be quiet as someone was putting out on a green next to a fairway and we didn't know it was there!!
