Cold Spring Country Club
About
Cold Spring Country Club is situated halfway between Springfield and Worcester. Opened in 2010 in an effort to bring world class golf to western Massachusetts, the club has since garnered a local following. The par-71 layout is unique in that it has six par 3s and five par 5s. There are also some par 4s in the 450-yard range. The 6,521-yard length indicated on the scorecard can be deceiving since it feels much longer when you're playing it. The golf course has plenty of variety, including dogleg lefts, doglegs rights, short holes, and long holes. Thanks to its mountaintop locale, Cold Spring C.C. offers stunning views that are as diverse as the holes. The vistas from the elevated tees and greens stretch to the Berkshires, Connecticut, and Vermont. From the golf course's highest tee box on the par-3 10th, you'll have a panoramic view of central Massachusetts.

The scenery is spectacularly panoramic at several of the Cold Spring tees and greens. This is the first hole, a par-three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A terrific par-5 of 490, the second demands good shotmaking to find this green safely. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A long par-5, eleven features strong ground movement from tee to green. A beautiful and challenging hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Although modern, the course maintains a natural feel. Secluded, too, on some holes, such as the sixteenth. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Favorite course
Considering the lousy weather this year, this course has been really good this year. Greens had that early spring aeration (sp?) look and made for tough judge on the approaches and putting. Fairways were good. You have to stay on them or else your ball is history because of the think woods that line the roughs. Just have to attack the pins. Bistro 21 has the best turn food but they don't serve food unless the course is busy.
Nice Course, Some challenging Holes
Very nice layout, will come back during golf season when not as wet and cold. Like the layout. Alot of mudd to course with all our rain. Look forward to playing next golf season.
Needs some attention
Played Cold Spring for the first time in several month. Greens were in pretty good shape, considering the weather we've had this summer. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for the tee boxes and fairways. The tees had been aerated but not top dressed so had large holes and very little grass. The fairways had begun to green up but had lots of crab grass. Besides that, we got behind an extremely slow foursome...never saw a ranger to help speed up play. In all, I enjoy playing this course, the staff is friendly and the place has a bit of the feel of a resort course. I hope it works out some of these issues.
Wait until the course returns to its form
I’ve played cold springs numerous times in the past and The course was always in great shape. The greens were fast, the rough was cut, and the fairways were manicured. I don’t know what happened to the course now. It just looks like they don’t care anymore about the course. Right now, it’s not worth playing this course. Not until management decides to care about how the course looks first. The only good thing I can say is the bunkers are the best around. I loved playing cold springs back in the day and even considered being a member. Now not so much. Cold spring... you guys can do better.
the course is a nice layout but the Tee Box is and Fairways were horrible therewas more crabgrass in the fairways than any other kind of grass. Some of the tee boxes we're actually just dirt. Very dissatisfied. they need to get a Greenskeeper that knows what he's doing cuz this place should be closed
Not worth the drive
It's a one hour drive for us. I like the layout, but my playing partners did not. The fairways on the back 9 were bad - all crab grass and no grass. The greens are in pretty good shape. They roll well. But there were a lot of ball marks.
A beautiful golf course...that needs to close for a while for some grounds repair. The clubhouse, views, amenities were wonderful. Awesome staff who come right to your car and grab your clubs for you. A full service restaurant and a beverage cart that we ran into at least 3 times (which is perfect) BUT....the course was in rough shape. The tee boxes were dirt and crabgrass and the fairways weren’t much better, a mix of turf and huge pieces of crabgrass. Greens were okay, a little bumpy. Bunkers on the other hand, ironically, were some of the best I’ve ever played. Nice white sand and seemed to be raked daily.
All in all, for $37, it wasn’t the worst, but, in all honesty, with the layout and amenities, it could be a top course in the area if they could improve the conditions.
Spot on
Great Deal, Course needs some TLC
Cold Springs C.C. is a challenging lay out with 5 Par 5's & 6 Par 3's( some 190+ yds.). Extremely elevated tees & greens. A staff that is very friendly and helpful. The food is very good and the views of the surrounding countryside are great. the bunkers are in great shape , they use true bunker sand( white & no stones) But, the course itself needs TLC, crabgrass on the some of the tee boxes and alot in the fairways. the greens putt true but are in below average condition. I would go back simply because it was a fun course to play and I would like to improve my score of 95 ( Bad Drives & missed puts)
Wonderful course and staff
Always a good time at Cold Spring. The course wasn’t crowded, and I’d have given a better score for pace of play, but the one slow foursome on the course was right in front of us. They have a very cordial, welcoming crew, from cart boys to bar and wait staff. $40 for greens fees and cart - a bargain.
Tricky course with much challenge. Great that the Safari Club picked this course!
Simply love this layout
I have played this course 4 times in the last four years with the Safari Club, western Mass's premier travel golf club. Always love it and want to return again each time. Shorter in length than some, the varying elevations more than make up for the shortness. When you are on the course, you rarely see another hole. Conditions were excellent. Has 6 par threes so you have a chance for a lower score. Not a walking course. Well worth the drive to play.
Unique layout
I had a tee time of 11:30 and it was "clear sailing" around the course, with a cart. I saw very little players on the course, so I was not being pushed to move along on each hole. The greens were in good shape with a moderate roll spead. The fairways were a bit banged up and dry, due in large part to the heat and lack of rain. I enjoy playing at Cold Springs because it is a track that has elevation changes with sweeping views of Belchertown and Palmer. Just enough dog legs to show you variety in the holes. The parr three and four holes are not terribly challenging, from the Senior Tee boxes, but enjoyable with sand traps that have white, fine sand that is fun to hit out of. (Unlike the rubble in muni courses)
The club house and restaurant is perched up on a hill, overlooking part of the course. That is unique and visually a plus, for your golfing experience. The staff and bar tender were all friendly and professional. If you haven't played Cold Springs CC, you should give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Ccourse was fairly setup
I enjoyed the round it plays at a 3hr 45 mins , good bunkers , par 3's moderate ,layout a ball placement course.
Going down hill
They are letting the course deteriorate, Tee boxes were a mess, clover in the fairways , everything was dry, and a lot of moths were flying around.
Beautiful views and fun course
Played a tournament on 6/22. Course was in great shape. Attentive and friendly staff. Will definitely play again.
